Defense officials, lawmakers, and analysts say that the military is more effective and less expensive as an all- volunteer force. In addition, the need of a draft is not needed due to advances in weapon technology. However, if there comes a time when a need for a draft is the only option, please look toward the incarcerated persons. Millions of dollars are spent to take care of prisoners in the nation’s prison. Why not put these individuals to use? Why endanger and take a chance with the potential of the citizen that is trying to better themselves by working, production, or obtaining an education? If there is a need to “replenish” the military, please consider another option. Reinstating a military draft would only solve an immediate problem, however, the long-term effects would be quite detrimental. Thank you for your time.
