You start with only 1 settler and 1 warriorThe AI has 4 free techs on top of the free techs from the chosen civ. You have no free techs.The AI builds everything twice as fast as you.Population in AI cities grows almost twice as fast as yours.AI workers finish jobs twice as fast as yours.So basically you start way behind and make progress at half the speed of the AI.However, hope is not lost. There are ways to win the game at Diety. Here's what I suggest.Pre-game Strategies:Play in scenarios with lots of city states. Playing in these crowded scenarios will deny the AI space to expand, partially neutralizing the AI's speed bonuses.Add lots of other AIs in the game. The AIs will fight each other for land and resources foring them to spend build points on war rather than winning the game.Prefer archipelago maps over pangea or continents. Islands will slow down the AI's expansion and also make it more difficult for AIs to invade.Start in later eras. Starting in a late era rather than ancient will put you and the AI on similar footing, leveling the odds a bit.In-game strategies:Divide and conquer. Since the map is crowded, slowly expand taking over the AIs one by one. Eventually you'll have more land and strategic resources than the AI nullifying their build speed bonuses.Quality over quantity. Focus on having a few elite military units and letting them accumulate promotions. The AI replaces units much faster than you so you cannot afford to waste build time rebuilding units.Combined arms. Use a mix of specialty units. Promote some with strength bonuses to be your unit killers. Promote other units with city attacking bonuses to be your city killers. Also, support them with ranged attackers.Once you've defeated a few AIs, you should have enough land and resources to pursue the victory of your choice. Enjoy and let me know how it goes!
