Why do I have an account on Quora if I never signed up?
I’ve noticed that a lot of people have asked this question in various ways and, through research and experience, I’ve found out why.Quora API can find your profile details from your existing accounts like Google, Facebook and/or other places and automatically make you an account on Quora without you ever consenting to it or realizing it.When you finally ‘join’ Quora officially, you log in to an account that was probably made ages before you even actually joined. It is likely that you searched up something on a search engine that associated to Quora somehow and you logged in with one of your social media accounts, generally speaking, Facebook. Many of Quora’s website traffic is from people searching things on the internet and to find answers, looked in Quora. To disconnect social media accounts that have connected, you can go to Your profile picture > Settings from the drop down menu > Account from the side menu > and scroll down to see Connected Accounts. Disconnect all or some as desired and done! Those accounts now have no connection to Quora whatsoever. You can also completely delete your Quora account : Your profile picture > Settings > Privacy > Delete Account.

Baring teeth is often a sign of aggression in the animal kingdom. How do our pets adjust to our use of it as a sign of friendlin
Good question.Baring teeth is always a sign that an animal feels threatened. It's not always an offensive signal, but it always means that someone is feeling threatened. Here's an obviously pissed off wolf. Here's a very angry chimpanzee:On the other hand, a smile is always a submissive gesture. It's an appeasement signal that says “you win.”Here's a grinning chimpYou can note how the teeth are partly covered and the face has a relaxed expression.Same with this dog-wolf.There's a big difference. Dogs understand both signals… we should be able to do the same. The differences are pretty clear.Body language analysis (photo) • r/Dogtraining

How did Helen Keller learn to read, write and speak?
OK. Let’s get a few things straight. Helen Keller never spoke very clearly. Annie Sullivan could understand her, and so, apparently, could a few close friends and family members, so it was not fraudulent to say she could speak, but her speech was not great. When she spoke in public, Sullivan usually had to repeat everything she said. Now, this is actually really a typical experience for a number of Deaf Americans, including those raised orally (and yes, even people given Cochlear Implants as babies). After being promised normal speech, and being able to fit seamlessly into the hearing world, they find that only their family members and teachers can understand their speech. And likewise, they can lipread only very familiar people.I don’t want to put down Helen Keller’s accomplishments— she clearly had a lot of native intelligence. But she was also a mouthpiece for two agencies, the Volta Bureau (now the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf, and the American Foundation for the Blind, which spend a lot of time trying to solicit money by telling people that Deaf or Blind people lead terrible lives because of their “afflictions.” The National [US] Federation OF the Blind (which doesn’t have much of an opinion of Keller, any more than the National [US] Association OF the Deaf does) has always been quick to point out that they are an organization OF the blind, while the AFB is an organization FOR the blind, and that makes a huge difference.Anyway, Keller learned through the arduous process of having everything fingerspelled to her. Unfortunately, when her parents wrote letters seeking help for her, and they wrote both to the Columbia Institute for the Deaf and Dumb (now Gallaudet University), and the Perkins School for the Blind; while the superintendent of the Perkins school was actually on the look-out for a Deaf-Blind child he might use to test out a method he had developed with a previous student, Edward M. Gallaudet was busily embroiled in the oral/sign controversy*, and didn’t have time to focus on a single family. So Keller ended up getting help from Perkins, and its current method, which was fingerspelling and Braille labeling. This was because a hearing person with no previous knowledge of ASL can learn fingerspelling in a couple of days, but ASL is a language, and takes much, much longer. So Keller had to learn everything through fingerspelling. She never had any exposure to the Deaf community. She was around other blind people, but they were always hearing blind people.Really, it’s understandable, that she wanted to emulate hearing people, I guess, even though I think it’s unbearably tragic. But it’s the reason that speech became a paramount achievement in her mind. It’s a shame. If she had been educated through ASL, all her achievements would have been advertisement for the legitimacy of ASL— publicity it badly needed during her lifetime. Unfortunately, Gallaudet had no way of knowing what her native intelligence was, or what her accomplishments would be— nor that, because her parents were wealthy enough to pay for a private teacher for her all her life, she would be able to go further than most hearing, sighted people. You really can’t overlook that last bit. Annie Sullivan may have come from poverty, but she was fairly bright as well, and she gave most of the waking hours of her whole adult life to Keller’s education. Anyone who had a dedicated tutor like that would go pretty far. That’s really the “key” to her success. Then, or course, Braille. Louis Braille had a stroke of genius when he thought “Here is a way for blind people not just to be able to read, but to write as well.” And once Braille typewriters were developed, Braille transcribers could transcribe into any language. It was slow-going by 21st century standards, but it was a miracle by standards of the 19th century, if you were a blind person who wanted access to Homer or Cicero.*ETA: For more on the oral/sign controversy, please see Don Grushkin’s What can you tell us about the conference of Milan? Note that Keller was unfortunately born just three months before what is the “Kristallnacht” of the Deaf.
