[Music] hey y'all welcome back to this week's episode of ama friday with amy miller recruiting in yoga pants alrighty two full years y'all we are the very first video of 2022 i am tired it has been a long week already but recruiting and young fans never sleep so we are gonna kick off the new year by revisiting a recent topic uh because i think we need to provide a little more clarity here i think there were some interesting points made in the midst of a dumpster fire that unfolded over on linkedin if you follow me on twitter you may know what i'm talking about thankfully that's all gone it's been deleted it's off the internet thank god cause it's messy anyway bigger points um i do want to revisit this idea around addresses and zip codes on resumes some of the criticism and really questions we were getting from non-recruiters was okay great you're saying i don't need it on a resume why the hell do i have to put it on my application i'm applying online going through the mandatory fields and boom there it is you want my address and you want my zip code what's wrong with you you monster fair point fair point let's talk through that there are two big ideas i want you to take away from this um and also a caveat and the caveat is i have no idea why we require it i do not know no one asks me my input when designing developing and implementing the ats okay maybe there are some legal reasons maybe they're i i just i don't know and frankly from my recruiter's seat i don't care and that's the first big idea you guys i don't care because i don't personally look at that level of data in your application when i see a resume and when i'm going through my applications and i'm reviewing all the people that have applied i'm popping out the resume as an attachment i'm scanning it i'm seeing if i have a go no go i hit the appropriate button and then that's it i don't well wait let me oh let me click that tab and look at the address and let me click that tab and look at the other no i'm looking at your resume i'm making a go no go decision and that's it the only other thing i might look at at that stage if i see that you've applied to a bunch of other roles if i see that you've maybe had previous uh feedback you know you've interviewed before things like that i might just sanity check that because if you're already interviewing with a different team i don't want to step on their toes i will ask if we can share but i don't want to you know try to steal you from from a colleague or you know disrupt an already in process situation...
