[Music] hello this is greg from sharepointmaven and in today's video i would like to show you how you can format your text messages in microsoft teams so here's what i'm talking about as you um you know as you carry conversations and exchange text messages in teams it's just pretty straightforward right you just literally type things in and uh i mean that's pretty much it right there is really no formatting to the text however uh if you do want to have formatting like make uh some you know things bold uh highlight a few things uh with a color etc etc uh what you can do you can format the text let me show you how to do that so let's say i'm starting a new conversation all right and you can obviously type your text in but you can also uh click here on this format button right here and a few things you can do here so uh first of all uh you can all obviously um you know format the text uh with the typical format tools that we have in microsoft word etc uh you can obviously uh you know highlight them you know change font colors etc but what i like specifically about this uh option is that you can also add a subject just like with the email right i mean if you want to start a new conversation it might be it might be a good idea to um uh you know start your conversation with a subject all right so i i you know maybe i have an announcement about the team meeting or something all right so um again you know feel free to experiment here and and see what's available in terms of the different capabilities formatting capabilities but you know if you're familiar with word you will have no problem formatting your text in microsoft teams a couple of other things i want to show you that are really cool here uh in this format text uh option uh so by default uh any messages you type in they they default to new conversation but you can also say it's an announcement and what actually happens it's um um it it has this nice graphical i guess uh you know form uh you know formatting and interface uh and uh stands out from the rest of the messages all right so maybe you know what we have a christmas party announcement all right so um it just highlights it a little bit better and again it makes it uh stand out after from the rest of the announcements all right so that's that's uh what you can do here another thing you can do here uh which is also pretty cool you can also uh use this format option to post on multiple channels so let's say again i have you know team meeting and but this applies maybe to several projects several teams that i'm part of you can actually post this announcement in multiple channels so even though i'm right now in hr team employees channel that's where i'm putting together this message from i can say you know what i also would like to uh choose other channels and seems i'm part of and pause this announcement in there so i mean that's where essentially you do it look at this here we go let's just post it uh over here as well so again you know you just highlight the different uh channels that you want to post to and your messages will be uh will be uh posted in multiple channels all right um so um that's all i wanted to show you today uh there's really not much to it i think it's a nice uh little touch i think majority of users uh are really just pretty much typing the text without hitting that format button but it's a nice way to spice up your a message you know make it more stand out make it a little bit more fun and just like we can do in microsoft word just like we can do in the regular email uh as well uh and i think personally i think it's a great um you know uh you know best practice uh to utilize uh the to utilize the subject line anytime you start a new conversation this way uh this way as people reply uh to your conversation they kind of know understand what the subject is all about at least at a high level all right so that's all i wanted to show you today um as always happy to see you on my blog sharepointmaven.com as well as my youtube channel thank you very much have a great rest of the day goodbye
