hi everyone this is emmanuel from parsimony if you own a solo consulting business and you're spending too much time invoicing you should try to upload your invoices and that's what this video is about [Music] here's an example of what i used to do so um i was tracking the time i was spending for each client in an excel file and then each month i went to my software for accounting or my bookkeeping software and i would manually transfer what i did for a client onto my invoicing system uh in wave apps which is my bookkeeping software so i'm literally copying and pasting descriptions of what i did the date that i did them um the amount of hours that i spent each day the hour my hourly rate which then wave accounting would turn into an amount for each line item and as you can see the more work you do for more clients the more you're copying and pasting which you should never be doing anytime you're doing something that's repetitive that's an indication that there is an opportunity to simplify and automate it now once i took a step back i discovered that wave the accounting software that i use or the bookkeeping software that i use actually has a way to upload invoices so i take that excel file and in the case of wave there's a google spreadsheet that you can use and you can connect it to your wave account and so i just take that file copy and paste the values into that spreadsheet and then i connect the spreadsheet to my wave account and i can upload them as invoices and so what you see is that when you go into the wave account all of those records are uploaded all of those records are uploaded and now they appear as invoices so in contrast to that first approach where you copy and paste everything manually for every invoice that you're creating this process now takes me a couple of minutes now this ability to upload invoices into your bookkeeping software is not unique to wave i did a quick google search for quickbooks online freshbooks zoho books and they all have features where you get to where you can upload your invoices saving you potentially hours each month so i would encourage you to go onto google type up the name of the bookkeeping software that you're using um like quickbooks online and then finish it up with import invoices and you should find results that tell you how to do it if this video has been helpful and you want to see more videos about tips for saving time as a solo consultant please subscribe
