when you're starting out as a consultant you're going to wonder where on Earth are my clients going to come from how are people going to figure out that my services is something that they have been searching for and this is a very valid question because a lot of times you arrive into HR Consulting by accident and sometimes it's a planned process sometimes maybe you are going through a layoff right now and or maybe even you're sitting in your corporate job and you're really not getting any Joy or F fulfillment out of your position right now and so you're contemplating getting into HR Consulting now you're going to need clients without clients you don't have a business so where do you find them I always advise people to start with your network start with your inner Inner Circle and start having some critical conversations with everyone think about the last time that you had happy hour with your friends and how many of them are really complaining about their jobs and complaining about how a lot of processes and procedures could be a lot better than what they really are think about how you can get into talk to some of the decision makers within an organization to help them realize that your services could be the cure to what they are currently experiencing another way to go about finding clients is through cold Outreach you may decide to send cold emails or cold uh DMS through various social media platforms you may even decide to do cold calls as well now depending on the type of services that you will be offering um not all clients are going to be very receptive to to that so for example with recruiting a lot of companies are used to receiving calls um and cold emails from recruiters but however when you are offering more of a strategic solution cold emails and cold calls may not go over very well so you want to get a better gauge for your prospects to see whether or not one strategy will work better over the other another method with getting some more uh clients and and getting more momentum and and interactions with clients is through marketing you may choose to do some marketing maybe some Direct Mail marketing or you may decide to run ads on Google or Facebook or LinkedIn um you know ad campaigns will generate different types of results and attract different types of clients so this is more of a trial by error type of thing and always remember to set a budget when it comes to running ads because you don't want to run an ad like continuously when you're not getting a whole lot of results another way to find clients is by ambulance chasing and what do I mean by ambulance chasing I mean finding the clients that are in the middle of a lawsuit they are being investigated by the EOC or they have a Department of Justice or Department of Labor issue that's going on and a lot of times this may be like something that is broadcasted on the Department of Labor website or it's something that your client will come towards you I mean it's more inbound that you get from them so they are reaching out to you because now they have an issue a safety violation Department of Labor violation they are being investigated and they have to find a Remy immediately to address the problem so these are the ones that are willing to pay top dollar for your services because now they are under the radar by authorities and this is the reason why I call it ambulance chasing another method is more of the long game which is posting on social media you may create like a a posting sequence to where you are you know writing blogs posting on social media maybe LinkedIn Instagram uh Tik Tok or even Facebook you can even create a company blog in which you are creating content and getting a lot of information out there in front of your clients because they are going to be reading that information your prospects are going to be Google SE searching for different remedies to the problems that they have or different things that they are experiencing so this is more of the long game and when they are looking for let's say for example if they are having an issue with employees um clocking in and clocking out or just being on their cell phones through work so they're going to do a Google search to see if there's an article that they can find a remedy to the problem and how to address the issue some of these can also be inbound so they will find your article and then they'll reach out to you they'll schedule a discovery call with you to get more of your feedback and more of your um expertise in different spaces so that's another way so I wanted this to be a very brief video I hope that this has been of value to you I will see you in the next video
