today we're gonna go through this weekly meal  planner spreadsheet we will cover how to set   it up how to add your own recipes how to meal  plan because with this meal planner you can   plan up to five weeks of meals within a few  seconds and a few clicks so let's get started   first of all we need to set up the  spreadsheet it will be pretty easy   and because I know it can be a lot to put in all  of your ingredients it's already pre-loaded with   so many ingredients to get you started so what  you will do is pretty easy you will follow these   steps they are written on the tab step one  step two and step three and you'll be all set   first of all you need to brainstorm all of your  meal ideas the meals that you like to cook for   breakfast lunch dinner and snack let's say uh  I'm going to make this short so I'm going to   say I like mac and cheese for dinner then I'll go  to step two see if I have all the ingredients here   uh as I can see I don't have macaroni anywhere  here so I will go to my where my pasta is which is here by the way you can edit all the  categories you can name them whatever you want   to name them you can delete if it's too many  for you you can delete those this is up to you   so for pasta I'm going to put in macaroni  I will buy them by a packaging and it's   I'm going to make it up 3.78 cents  now I'll go to step three right here and in step three I'm going  to start writing the recipe   if you see the spreadsheet doing this that's fine  it's calculating it's doing what it's supposed to   do it's automating everything uh it only takes  a few seconds and it only happens while you are   entering your recipes and your ingredients once  that is done which is you only do that once once   that is done you will never see it again from  the drop down menu I will select mac and cheese   and I will add the ingredients that I need so  that will be macaroni for sure and you have to   make sure that for every ingredient you fill out  the name of the recipe because the filter function   needs to connect the ingredient to the recipe  basically and now I select some type of cheese   I'm making it super simple just so you know  how it works you wait for it to load the   units and the prices uh so now I know I will  need half of packaging of macaroni and say point   four maybe kilograms of cheese  and I will also use milk 8.2 liter of milk and now I can start meal  planning this is where the magic happens   I go to the week that I want to start planning  let me delete it these these I had there   previously [Music] and we begin to plan as you  can see you have extra slots up to four for each   meal breakfast lunch dinner and snacks so I will  here I will select scrambled eggs automatically it   will start giving you the list of ingredients  that you predefined in the recipe and so on   and here's my mac and cheese and for snacks let's  say crackers now you have the list of ingredients   auto-generated but it's not showing in the weekly  or monthly shopping list that is because you might   already have them in your kitchen so you decide  which ones go to the shopping list so let's say   I'm missing all of these and if I go to the  shopping list to the grocery list now you   will see them all here in both weekly and monthly  shopping lists because you get to decide whether   you want to go grocery shopping on weekly basis or  even on monthly basis once you go grocery shopping   you can filter by categories because this way you  can buy all the ingredients in the same Department   all at once did not happen select all and so on  so you continue planning on Monday oh by the way   the spreadsheet comes in Monday and Sunday start  and you simply keep adding ingredients to your   shopping list it will simply keep adding those  ingredients into both once you decide to go   shopping I'll see you go shopping weekly so  for this week I've already bought all of these   ingredients or you can decide to put it off and go  shop and go grocery shopping only once a month in   which case you work with the monthly shopping list  once you start blending week two week three and   week four the monthly shopping list will keep on  growing while this will only show the ingredients   and the grocery list for the given week let's say  this one was week four if you still need to add   more items on top of your of your meal planning  here's a list of all the ingredients that you have   on this tab ingredients list and prices you can  even add household items you keep adding the items   that you're missing now you see this cell turned  red that's because you need to set the quantity   to make sure it goes into the shopping list and  here you have them hot sauce and apple cider   vinegar are both here now if you want to delete  ingredients and you change your mind do not touch   this cell because as you can see there's a pretty  complicated function that automates everything   about that so you simply delete any or all items  from here it will disappear and then uncheck those   check boxes you can also uncheck check boxes  in bulk you highlight the ones you want to   uncheck or check doesn't matter and hit space on  your keyboard here you go it will work the same   here space if I want to delete something I will  delete it one last thing if you're entering your   ingredients and you're missing a unit here you  can either go to add or delete units by clicking   here which is a link that takes you to a tab  attitude here so you simply add the unit that   you're missing right here not going to lie it  takes time to set it up because it cannot read   your mind and it doesn't know what ingredients  you like to use what recipes you like to cook   or what the recipe actually is because you know  uh everybody makes stuff differently but once you   set it up you simply and very easily plan your  meals for the entire month or the week within   a few clicks with automated list of ingredients  that automatically goes to the shopping list and   then you can take the shopping list with you  on a free Google Sheets app and check out the   ones that you've already
