thank you everybody for joining um our our webinar today we are doing a special industry related webinar with our animal nutrition account managers which will be nice to go over the guaranteed analysis otherwise known as our F2 package um but first I'm going to go over a little bit about Midwest Labs and then our agenda and then we'll get into the specialty information from um Amber and Jade who have joined us today okay so a little bit about Midwest Labs um our mission here is to drive a positive impact on the lives of our employees our clients and our surrounding communities it's been our passion since 1975 and we continue to do this by recruiting individuals in chemistry biochemistry microbiology animal science agronomy Agricultural Science and environmental science so we're based here in Omaha Nebraska Middle America we've got quite a large campus here with about 12 or 13 buildings I believe now um and this is just kind of a a nice little map to give you the visual we have our main office where uh local clients or those you know in the surrounding areas can drop off their samples and and take a tour um on our website you can request a tour so if you're in the area ever or you are local to Omaha feel free to request a tour and and meet it's nice to meet people in person uh put some faces to the names and then of course get a tour of our um our Labs we are ISO and knap accredited so a little bit about the different Labs um other than pet food we do soil plants food and beverage compost fertilizer Fuel and environmental samples so back in 1975 was when our soils lab first opened with our feeds lab and metals followed by chromatography microbiology wet chemistry and then later foods and fuels so there's a lot going on at Midwest Labs all the time and we're currently um we offer a lot of different analytical testing but just kind of wanted to point out other than you know the pet food animal feed testing we have a lot of additional service offerings here that people may not know about so I like to post this just I know a lot of clients are starting to do you know not only pet food but water sampling and things like that or microbiology um food and ingredients human grade and pet food is all so close together anymore so um we have method development at Midwest Labs we do verification and validation studies we have a dedicated quality control team um we offer sampling supplies of course to be purchased and shipped out we have our own on-site environmental sampling team that goes out to different clients in the surrounding uh Midwest um we have a local career service we do API integration that's nice for larger clients who want to just integrate um like a custom portal set up with a product database or things that feed into their software so um aside from that we have our my lab portal which we're going over today and our customer success team which is our client service team front um and then our account managers which are industry specific so to each of those different Industries we have a dedicated account manager for your account um but if you have any other questions about any of our additional service offerings feel free to contact us anytime or ask your account manager so starting with myself my name is Megan fonera um I'm the onboarding and marketing specialist here at Midwest Labs I've been a member of the Midwest Labs teams for six years um my role is to assist new clients to navigate in just getting started for the first time with Midwest Labs and then I also train new and existing clients like yourselves to navigate the the website and our my laab portal through you know one-on-one calls and training and email support so I am available Monday through Friday for one-on-one trainings as well so we we like to host these monthly um but also at any point if you'd like you know one-on-one training for your account please reach out to me or your account manager um as I said I host monthly webinars and then I also create additional training materials for all our Industries to support employees and our clients so anything that we're posting on social media or a website or or a portal is is created by me and my team and then today we have Jade Cameron and Amber Brown um these are our animal nutrition account managers so Jade and Amber have been with our animal nutrition team for two years now they work with the animal nutrition clients to ensure the testing process goes smoothly from start to finish and then they're here to assist with questions on account setup sample submission proper testing packages and then of course when you're reports come out they're the people that can go over those reports with you and then you know what are your next steps so these these people serve as our subject matter experts in the animal nutrition testing specifically anything related to the guaranteed analysis um which is what we're going over today with you so that being said today's agenda I'm going to just start with a quick tour of the Midwest lab's website just to point out a few things as to where to find them um and then I will dive into our quick tour of the myab portal this is where we will go over uh ordering your supplies viewing results um submitting your paperwork and then paying your monthly invoices and then we'll go into with jadeen Amber um our guaranteed analysis testing process and then a report example so that you can see what that looks like when everything is completed so these are the two uh URLs I recommend favoriting on your browser are website midwestlabs outcom and then our portal which you can access from the website but it's my. midwestlabs because the get started tab kind of goes over all the different steps you need when first uh working with our lab from picking your analysis completing a sub form mailing in your samples viewing your results and creating your account we also are broke out by industry so I just wanted to come here and point out the animal nutrition section because that is where we will post information um most up-to-date packages um what's included how much samples needed turnaround time and costs and then the nice thing too is we've got some good guides on the side here animal feed FAQs pet food FAQs and then our guaranteed analysis uh document that was created by Jaden Amber which is actually what we're going to specifically get into into detail today um our resources section is nice because we have product and sampling guides you can download right onto your computer or video library I just want to point this out this is where we will post um our webinars as well after the fact so if you've missed one or you want to um look into our other webinars or my monthly portal training feel free to come on to our YouTube channel and get uh access to those videos so the myab portal when you first get logged in and if you have not set up an account yet please reach out we can we can get you set up but you'll come in here to your user dashboard the user dashboard is just snapshot of your account so it's going to give you just some notifications some FAQs that you can download how many accounts that your specific user is tied to and then of those accounts how many users are added so this one account here has 13 users and then if you have an outstanding balance it will show here um recent analysis orders and Supply orders and our billing which I will go over is always the first week in the month after testing so if you have testing done in April you will be invoiced the first week of May through email and sometimes paper uh invoices come and then you can come in here on the portal and pay and I will show you how to do that later so available analysis is our access to our fee schedule this is going to just jump back to the website um I just like to point out if you do go to the table of contents here it is broken out by industry sorry I zoomed in so far but it is broken out by industry so if you're looking for animal nutrition and specific uh testing under animal nutrition the pages will highlight so if you want to just go into standard um animal nutrition packages you would click on that page number and it's going to skip to that page you can download that to your uh desktop as well but if you have any specific questions on pricing that you're not seeing in our fee schedule please contact us and let us know and then submitting samples so all samples that come to Midwest Labs require some sort of paperwork so you can either print off our submittal forums from our website and handw write them um if you choose to but a lot of our clients are are really enjoying the portal it's just a little bit more easy and when we get those forms in we can quickly scan those in with no human error and entry or things like that or timec consuming entry so that way your samples are right back in the lab right away so for the animal nutrition you're going to see two categories here pet food or animal feed so depending on what you're doing um you would choose one or the other today we're doing pet food specifically so I'm going to choose pet food and then I'm going to choose dry pet treat and then this is just going to create your submitt form so it's going to give you a description box the red boxes are the required Fields description is whatever your samples are and how you want that to appear on your report header so if these are you know pumpkin treats you would just put some sort of title in there so that way it will reflect on your report description to PO comments and the safety data sheet is not relevant to your sample types you can disregard those if you do if you are a larger client or do submit posos to accounting feel free to put your PO number in there because then of course you're keeping record of everything for when the invoices come you'll come down here to sample ID um this is created by you so this is whatever you're putting on your bag of kibble or or pet treats so I'm just going to do pumpkin again this is my first sample ID and then for today's testing we will be going over the guaranteed analysis so I'm going to select the F2 guaranteed analysis you can click on this little I next to it and it's going to just tell you what is in that package and the costs um for your account I am in a pet food demo account here so my cost is probably different than what will reflect on reflect on yours but we will go over all that today um and then it tells you the methods so so when you select the test it will populate down below the test box and if you have other tests you can always add other tests tests um if you can't find your tests in the list we have an option here to click on can't find your test you're going to type in what you want in here and then you're going to click do I plan to test again in the future click yes um whether or not you do this is going to then notify your account manager so it's going to list it on here um on your submitt and then it's going to let your account manager know so that they can add that into the portal because these portals are customizable to you so we can add different testing packages and additional testing for you to then come in here and select the next time you're ready to submit samples date and time are not required but I'm just showing you here to just select the calendar and then if you do time sampled it is uh military time no colon and then over to the right with pet food clients we've added the expected levels here so if you do know your expected levels you can enter those here on the on the right it's not required but we do like to have that in there and then I would just add you know however many samples I'm sending if you use the arrow to the right it's going to just populate down through all of the open boxes below and then you would just have to you know change your flavors or your sample IDs or what have you I'm going with some fun flavors today so everything's filled out I'm not seeing any red boxes or little orange exclamation points here I'm going to click review order it's going to give you your total summary and pricing so if everything looks good here you'll click submit order if not you can go back and edit once I click submit order it's going to populate your submitt form and you're going to know that because you're going to see our logo and our address address to ship to and then you're going to see the QR code in the top right so this is going to be the actual form you need to print off and put in the box with those samples to send to Midwest Labs once you click submit they are housed in the view documents tab so you can always go if you forgot to print it off or you need to save it for later you can always go back down to the view documents Tab and here's the order form that I just created and then once two to three business days go by for the guaranteed analysis we've got our view reports tab so you'll get your report emailed and then you can come in here under your reports tab if your testing is still in progress you will see that in progress flag um but a completed report will actually show a report number starting with you know the year um the report number your sample ID will be listed Etc um and then you can click on report and view there'll sometimes there's different versions if the pet food team updated anything um you'll go to the most recent version um sometimes you'll just have one version so it all depends but this dashboard is nice because you can customize it um as well by clicking on column settings so anything listed in line one is on this dashboard so say you don't want type or maybe info 3 is never used you can play around with this and change it to line two and then click save it's going to just kind of free up some space here um and just customize it to what you're specifically looking for on your reports Tab and then also note anything with a little arrow to the right of it is a searchable field so if you're searching for a specific ID you could come down here and select it or type it in and search for it you can also click on a report and email it to someone within your company and then you can also select uh you know a large number of count of of reports on your account or just however many you need and you can download those into one CSV file or Excel so I would click on that and click export data and then this is where you can choose to do CSV or a spreadsheet and then just click create file it'll just come up and save it to your desktop so a lot of people ask I just I just joined the portal how far back to my reports go as long as your account has been open you will have access to all the reports even if you're a new user to the portal so we do you know transfer everything over and you will have access to all of your reports you can also create shipping labels here you'll come down to shipping labels and select your career and pounds it's going to change price by how many pounds you select if in certain locations you'll have Speedy but most people will use UPS and FedEx and then there's a nice guide down here in case you're wondering you know weightwise how many samples fit in each box so if you have any questions about that you can always let us know or just refer to to this shipping guide it says soil samples but it will fit six samples or 12 samples or however many need to so you'll just follow the prompts select your address and click next and then confirm and and then I just click print labels and this is going to populate a shipping label just like my auto submit so it's going to come up on your screen and then it's going to allow you to physically print that label so you can create as many Auto submits and shipping labels as you want we are only invoicing you for what you physically send in with your Bo box of um pet food so we're scanning in that um shipping label and we're scanning in that form that you put into the box so keep that in mind and then that's what you'll see on your invoicing the next month you can ALS go also schedule a pickup um in certain areas Speedy but also through FedEx so you'll just follow through the prompts here and schedule the actual pickup and then account management tab is where you will add users to your account so if you are a full admin user you have access to everything we've gone over today on this left-hand column you'll scroll to the bottom of your users you'll add your your new user in here by their email address and click add so account admin as I said full access order tests would be if you just want someone to be able to submit samples view reporting is coming into view reports ordering supplies and then of course just billing but if you want them to have full access you just click this once and it's going to auto select everything else click save changes and then let that person know they're going to get a registration email to that email address where they finish filling out their user details um setting up their own password and then getting logged in and if at any point you have any problems with that reach out to me or your account manager and we will make sure you get logged in um if someone leaves the company or uh you want to change their permissions as the admin you have access to come in here and do that at any time you just uncheck and then click save changes and then uh when your invoices come you'll you'll click on view invoices I'm going to come back to the PowerPoint because since this is a test account this is what that page will look like for you when your invoice is ready to be paid so you'll see your ID what account it's invoicing the date the due date and the amount um and then you'll click on either view of the invoice or pay the invoice and I always just do a quick note here i' I would print it off or keep keep record of it because once that's paid it goes away so it it will go out of that list there so then when you click pay you'll type in your card number information accept the terms and then click process order and then you'll get a confirmation if at any time you're having issues in the portal making payments you can contact our client service team or myself and we can take payment over the phone as well so now I'm going to get over to uh Jad and Amber and they are going to go over the guaranteed analysis document here that they created so I will hand it over to you Jade hi everybody okay so just to kind of go through um the guaranteed analysis and what it is um per askco guidelines for your label um you need a guaranteed analysis listing out your moisture protein fat fiber and then your kilo calories um with minimum and maximum values we call those items your proximates and that's what we'll be testing here um and then those values on your report are what you're going to reference when you're creating your guaranteed analysis label um that's typically what's needed it's always a good idea to check with your uh Department of b or whoever your regulatory body is to see if there's anything additional but that F2 package is uh going to get you what you need for your label great great great and then we have some additional resources on this document we will this is posted on our website but we will also share this out with you um for registering today so that you have access to this um and then I went over how to subit this on the portal just now but this kind of gives you some nice stepbystep instructions and screenshots and things like that just so you have a reminder when you're when you're going through this process and submitting your first samples um okay and then back to you guys on some more additional information on sample size and shipping certainly so we like to receive about 250 grams of your sample um if you have a little bit less than that uh just reach out to us sometimes we can make um do with less if you're running short um sending it in in a Ziploc bag that's labeled is great original packaging is awesome um doesn't have to be fancy just whatever you know as long as it's labeled that's okay and you can send it in really any any box any cardboard box doesn't have to be fancy there either um write to our mailing address which is listed on that document there um it's also on your paperwork you can find our address on U many things so I won't bore you with what that is here but um and that that's pretty much it pretty easy um please include paperwork when you're sending in your sample so we know what to test it for um yeah and then once you get your report Megan you want to pull up the sample report or the example yes perfect um so kind of the parts of the report um at the top in that header that's where your description is going to be any other you know information you've included um your sample ID is uh right there in that gray bar at the top right next to your lab number um um and then our columns here the as received is going to be how we received your sample sometimes that's called as fed those are the values that you're going to want to reference when you're creating your guaranteed analysis uh the dry weight values are going to be if your product had no moisture in it um sometimes those are used for formulation or comparing products with different moisture levels um but again when you're making your guaranteed analysis you'll want to focus on on that has received um units everything will report out in a percentage besides of course your kilo calories kilo calories which will report out in kilo calories per kilogram um and then that reporting limit is the minimum amount that we are able to detect and quantify and list on your report so um if there happen to be anything less than that um we would report out a less than or a non- detect on your report um and then of course the methods just the procedures that we use to do the testing so yeah and then what Jade just went over is kind of just summed up here on the document so if you have any questions there we've kind of reiterated it um on on this guide um and then I will come back up here for you Amber on creating the label sure so once you get your lab report you're going to want to look at um as Jade mentioned your percentage values but those are not going to be what you're going to want to put directly onto your label um these are required protein and fat to be minimum values and moisture and fiber to be maximum values um so doing a little bit of rounding here will will'll ensure that no matter when your treats are tested um you know there's there gives you a little bit of variability in that um there so so really we can help you you know if you're having a little bit of trouble of how do I make my label after I get my report um we're certainly here to help with that awesome and then just some more uh information here as we covered our invoicing and then also we offer shelf life so there's the animal nutrition team which is Jaden Amber and her colleagues and then we have shelf life testing which a lot of um pet food and animal feed clients like to do so we have um our specialist Jordan sez um who does customizable shelf life programming um specific to you so you would reach out directly to him and then he would send you a questionnaire and so on um so that's the guaranteed analysis document that we wanted to go over today with you um I want to allow some time for questions so if you have questions feel free to ask or use your chat here on the um goto meeting so here's the little chat function where you can type so here's here's a question for you guys um just to clarify if I have different sizes of pet treats so say a 4 o and a 6 oun bag do I need to test those separately uh no no need to as long as the formula is still the same um the size will not matter okay so um if one of my uh pet food samples has like a frosting to it so say it's like a dog cake do I need to send that in um separately or with with frosting of cake and then the cake itself how would that work yeah so you are going to want to send that in um exactly as it's intended to be sold and consumed send in your finished product and we will test it like that wonderful and then finally if I get a report and I'm unsure as to what I'm looking for you know the values like you guys mentioned the thresholds um how do I know what to do if I'm stuck on you know my labeling information at that point uh you can certainly reach out to myself or Jade or any of the other animal nutrition account managers we're more than happy to help with that um we know it can be challenging when you're first starting out especially to kind
