try and compensate for a beautiful sunny day in April so thank you all very much for spending part of your afternoon or the first part of your afternoon here I'll try and um make this as um uh clear and entertaining as possible recognizing the competition um and what I'd like to do is spend about 35 minutes or so walking through of the presentation then throw it up open for questions and the subject is really again the title here the myth of a freight dependent economy it's it's one of the most durable and widely repeated statements about our economy we're told by uh the editor editors of major uh Publications we're told by a raft of interest groups that we have a freight dependent economy that our economy can't survive without moving Freight and um more pointedly the implication is unless we spend more money um on expanding the capacity of our Freight System somehow our economy can't grow and I'd like to challenge that that particular perception today and I'll present um a a bunch of
