CLETS is a statewide computer system that lets pol ice know about yo ur orde rs. What can the police do? It is a crime to diso bey the judge’s orde rs. The restrained person can be arrested, pa y a fine, and /or go to jail or pri son. Ask your local dist rict attorney (D.A .) ho w he o r sh e will ha ndle y our cas e. The D.A. may file c riminal or contempt charges. You can always call the D. A. for infor mation ab out a crimina l cas e. You can also file a civil contempt action. Ask the court clerk for fo rm s or visit ww w.c ourts.ca.g ov. Guns, Other Firearms and Ammunition The restra ined person cannot • own hav e bu y or try to bu y • • a gun or fi rearm or ammunition whil e the order is in effect. If the person does any of th ese thing s, h e or she can go to jail and be ord ered t o pay a fine of $ 1,00 0. • Get co pies of y our r estr aining ord er (DV-1 10 or DV-13 0) and Proof of Service (Fo rm DV-20 0 or DV-2 50) f rom th e court clerk if you don’t already have them: Always keep a copy with you. You may need to show it to the police. Kee p another copy in a safe pla ce and consider kee ping a copy in your car. Give a co py to any one else protected by the order. Take copies to places whe re you and the other protected people go (e.g. school, work, dayca re, etc.). Give a copy to the security offic ers in your a partment building and workplace. Staple the restraining order (DV- 110 or DV-130) to the Proof of Service (DV-200 or DV-250). Call the poli ce right awa y if the restra ined person violates any of the orders.
