Why does Quora have a character limit for questions?
Thank you, Nathan Arbeh, [ https://www.quora.com/profile/Nathan-Behar ] for asking me. All of the other answers on this subject are correct and well-taken. I add mine with more freighted language because I disagree with the path Quora is taking, and I will candidly frame it in those terms. Quora wants to force questions and answers into specific templates whether questioners or answerers like it or not. The sorts of Q&A that will be affected least by this are hard science questions. Anything that involves more humanistic concepts becomes, inherently, devalued. People will continue to applaud exemplary first person narratives, but only for their crowd-pleasing drama or humor, not for the subtextual conclusions that could be drawn from a broader understanding of how people relate. Hard science fits nicely into pre-sized boxes. Questions can be succinct, answers too. But there is less tolerance for people really trying to understand their existences and their personal worlds. I've seen many on Quora express frustration over the recurrence of such personal questions, but I see them as valid expressions, each as different as a snowflake, of the human condition. As such, I think Quora is moving the same direction as most mass media, towards sound bites, and quick satisfaction. In my view, the arts (and empathy) will suffer. I take no joy in penning my bummer answer. Sorry!

Who would be best suited to vet entrepreneurs and their ideas for angel investors?
I upvoted answers already written here by Paul Cohn and Randall Reade but since you asked me specifically, I'll add that I think you're solving a problem that doesn't exist. None of the angel investors I know and work with – a few dozen, not a large sample, mostly anecdotal – would want to pay for any kind of a vetting service. Every single man and woman I know as an angel investment trusts his or her own judgment and would not want to delegate the kind of decision you're suggesting to somebody else. Here's why, from my point of view: I trust myself to make my decisions more than I trust anybody else. I don't do angel investing for the money. I'd leave my money in the hands of a professional investor. I do it for the pleasure I get from meeting startups and entrepreneurs, evaluating their pitches, evaluating their teams, and doing the due diligence. That makes me happy. Analogy for you: I like driving. I enjoy driving way more than I enjoy sitting in a vehicle that somebody else is driving. I also feel safer with me at the wheel than as a passenger. Angel investment is to me like driving. Additional thought: A few years ago I considered partnering with one of my daughters in a service offering the less intriguing and more mundane tasks related to due diligence to angel investors. We were thinking of tasks like checking university credentials and with past employers. But we gave up before we went very far, because we decided angel investors wouldn't pay for that service.

How does Microsoft Teams compare to Slack as a team collaboration tool?
It’s too early to be sure, at this point, since Teams won’t be generally available until Q1 2017, but Teams looks like it has a signNow superset of Slack’s features, with threaded conversations and deep Office 365 (Groups, Office Online, Office 365 Connectors, Power BI, Planner, SharePoint, Skype…) and Azure (Azure Active Directory and other infrastructure services) integration.Indeed, it might be simpler to think of Teams as a new user experience option for seamlessly combining a broad collection of communication/collaboration apps and services already available in Office 365, with a t...

Is Microsoft teams a serious competitor to Slack in 2018?
Slack is great, but it’s a dedicated, separate platform.Office 360, on the other hand, is a suite that includes most anything a business needs, all the things they don’t need, and sometimes new things that they find out they need or don’t need.Teams is exactly what that is.Odds are that some of Slack’s user base is already using Office. Of those, many will switch to Teams, as it makes the most sense - they’re already paying for it, right? Then it will convert a lot of new users too - new users that may have gone to Slack.Thirdly, it will show someone the idea, but Slack may offer a better pr...

How does Microsoft’s new Slack competitor do, as compared to Slack?
Layout - Which Application Gives Comfort Over Chaos? The layout of these applications appears like they have been cut from the same cloth. Like every team collaboration software, a left rail consists of channels or groups, conversations, tasks, and anything you have pinned to the top.The nucleus part concentrates on the details of the chosen conversation. And the right rail is subjective. For instance, Troop Messenger focused on the information that is one more layer deep such as filters, screen sharing and other contents of a conversation. It has to be understood that both are having a small vertical dashboard for conversations, contacts, and channels. Coming to Slack, it is busy as the bee.It is visually intense with eight customised themes giving end users a chance to alter the dashboard of their work space as they want.Furthermore, if you are a member of numerous workspaces, you can choose a different theme for each workspace giving you a crystal clear workflow. And Microsoft Teams does not short your expectations either. It gives you even more command over conversations with the help of personalized tabs.Speaking technical, MT has an additional vertical that consists of tabs like Teams, Chat, Files, Meetings, and Activity. Now, it is your turn.Messaging - Which Application Made it a Cakewalk? Both the applications offer instant messaging in one-to-one and groups/channels versions. These two applications have likewise messaging features such as supporting and sharing all types of media, editing, deleting, mentioning any member (in case of a channel) with @, threading etcetera.By any chance of speaking about differences, Microsoft Teams holds the cup with advanced designing tools within its messenger such as the possibility of changing the font color.Similar to WhatsApp, Teams also supports the feature of emoticon search. To elaborate more, when you are in a dilemma of which emoji to pick out, you can simply type the name of it and Teams get it for you. Also to messages, Slack permits you to signNow with smileys whereas MT has limited it to Like (thumbs up) symbol.Wrapping up, I would say that both Slack and Microsoft Teams have exceptional messaging features.Notifications - Which Application is legend-ary?Since notifications is a signNow feature in business messaging applications where end-users gets decided whether to halt or continue.Speaking of these two, I would say that Slack has star-studded features in customizing the notifications. You can set up the alerts of your preferred keywords, you can set you to personalize your notifications in terms of Do Not Disturb for a predetermined time or you never want to hear from that person or channel at any point.Slack even allows you to set distinct preferences for mobile and desktop versions. In Slack, users can update the status automatically if you are going for a meeting or lunch or just taking a quick nap. When it comes to Microsoft Teams, the settings are umm, a bit feeble. You cannot customize channel notifications i.e., the settings are applied to all channels; you cannot personalize for one particular channel leaving the rest as active. Also, Teams has provided only four options such as busy, available, away, and Do Not Disturb. Whereas in Slack, you can update the status as what you want. You can include text, image, emoticon and many more. For instance, if you are on vacation, chillin’ in the beach, you can keep the status as clinking beer mugs followed by a text up to January 3rd.Isn’t it legend-ary!? You tell me, please.Read here details report :Microsoft Teams VS Slack: How they are different from each other?

What's with the wide and fancy letters when Japanese internet users type in Roman letters?
Do you mean this kind of text?In the JIS character encoding (and now in Unicode, and in many more Asian encodings) there are “full-width” European characters that take up an entire square, like Chinese characters do.This convention basically doesn’t exist at all in the West — we have monospaced characters, as anyone who has used a typewriter (or even anyone who has used the Courier or Monaco fonts) knows. But even those are typically taller than they are wide. In Asia, the standard for Chinese characters is that they fit into perfect squares. So when you need a Western character sitting in a column or line of Chinese characters, it looks more natural if it too is square.(There are also non-square, “proportional” Asian fonts in which each character has a specific width. I’m assuming your screen isn’t using one with the following example.)Consider these three ways of writing “Today’s B Course is available until 12:00.”:今日のBコースは十二時までです。(This is with kanji numerals.)今日のBコースは12時までです。(This is with fullwidth Western numerals.)今日のBコースは12時までです。(This is with halfwidth Western numerals.)I’m typing this on a Mac with the Hiragino Gothic font, and for me the first two align perfectly, because the Western characters are the same width as the Japanese ones. But that third one, with its non-perfect-square B, 1, and 2, will not match well with lines of text above and below it.That’s a legitimate “normal” use of fullwidth Western characters. Now computer input methods make it a little too easy to get these fullwidth characters, I think. For example, in Microsoft’s Japanese input editor, if you hold Shift before typing any letter, the default behavior is to give you Roman letters rather than attempting to convert what you have typed into hiragana. But if you type select fullwidth characters, in the ensuing conversion screen, you might type Special Price but then hit the convert button and get the option to have Special Price instead. And you might just go with that because, not being familiar with Western typography, you don’t know that it’s more than a little weird to Westerners. You can imagine how annoying it would be to read entire sentences of this text!(Edit: Just thought of something. In the Japanese edition of Steven Pinker’s The Language Instinct, 言語を生みだす本能, the translators made clever use of the difference between these two encodings of Roman letters. Phrases in English (and other Roman-letter-using languages) that the reader didn’t necessarily have to read and understand were left intact in the Japanese version, with half-width characters rotated 90 degrees so that readers would have to turn their heads to read them, like in this advertising sign:Words that they expected readers to not skim over were left in vertical orientation with fullwidth characters. Imagine 「犬は英語でdogです。」printed vertically with the letters dog stacked on top of each other, like on this signNow:It was a very clever way to differentiate levels of foreign-language text depending on how important they were.
