you find it find out more after this [Music] the best way to find this item this thing this one item you've been looking for for ages move house yes that is the best way to find anything you've lost in your house move house because you have to move the sofa the chairs the bed the wardrobe everything everything has to be moved the carpet sometimes has to be lifted up the lino has to be lifted up sometimes all sorts of things has to be moved and this small tiny item that you've been looking for for ages will suddenly appear it will be stuffed between the sofa it will be underneath the bed it could be anywhere but wherever it is if you move house you're more likely to find it so in this video i'm going to give you some tips to be able to move swiftly and easily and stress free tip number one is to confirm the day and time you're going to move so whether you're going to be buying a house or whether you're going to be renting a house confirming the actual date is critical because then you can organize everything after that if you're going to be buying a property finalize everything it's going to be a little difficult but getting the confirmed date is going to be critical because then you know what to arrange after that but if you're going to be renting a property then you can definitely find the time that you can move in because obviously the people that will be in the property before you should have moved out either the day before or in the morning tip number two contact all service providers before you move if you're renting or buying it doesn't really matter but you need to contact all the utility providers that know you're going to be leaving so they can finalize the last bill on the day you're going to be leaving and then you can contact the new service providers on the new location where you're going to go to so the most important things your gas your electric your water your broadband right now in this kind of current climate arranging your broadband in advance it's going to be very very important because obviously the next day you move you may have to start working from your new location so contact your service providers for things like your magazine subscriptions your gym membership all sorts of things that you have tied to your house for example your bank statements your credit cards all those kind of things that you have tied to your current location you need to make sure that you tell them your new location tell them your new address so that when you go to your new location it will be easier for you to receive all your bills especially when it comes to things like purchasing online you have to give them your postcode and giving them your postcode of your new location will be a lot easier and make sure that you get all your parcels delivered to the correct address and obviously when you go to a new location as well you're going to have to have depending on how close you're moving doctors dentists ladies want to get their eyebrows and things done so or even gentlemen let's not discriminate everybody likes to get things done so you need to let them all those kind of people know that you're moving to a new location so um tell them that your new address and let them know to not write to you at your previous address also don't forget to use the post office service to ford on your mail so purchasing that in advance is absolutely critical it then ensures that when you leave the property that any post that arrives goes straight to your new location be a good idea for those who are going to be living in your house after you leave there's no harm in leaving them a little note as well as to where you're going to be moving to so that if any post does arrive they can afford it on or you can say that you will be back in a week's time to collect any previous post that has arrived so any post that has arrived then you know those are the couple businesses and what have you that you missed off so that you can then write to them and let them know that you have moved to your new location number three removal companies so obviously you need to make sure that you've got a good removal company that is available for you on the day that you're moving so the idea of moving is is not to make it stress free but to obviously be as relaxed on the day as possible moving can be very stressful and give people lots of anxiety and all things like that but if you have two removal companies one main one and then a backup just in case the one main one something happens to them then you should make sure that that will ensure you have a stress-free moving day so get as many quotes as you can there's not really much way of knowing how many boxes of things you're gonna have in advance but if you tell them it's a three bed two bed four bed property that you're moving from including a garage or loft or basement then that lets the removal company know as to approximately how much boxes and things you're gonna be have to move so get as many quotes as you can ideally three three quotes should be enough in order to assess what price is good look at the reviews go to trustpilot see if they're quite trustworthy and just narrow down exactly what it is do you need the removal company to pack for you do you need them to give you boxes and polystyrene and all those things to pack up your items because obviously the more you need from your removal company the more expensive they're going to be and obviously when you're moving around going to a new location i think the distance from your current location to your new location may have to be taken into consideration when when you're choosing your removal company so do you want to remove a company that is close to where you are now that do not mind traveling far to your next location or do you want to remove a company from the location you're going to to come and pick you up and then the end location is going to be where that where they are positioned anyway or do you want a location that is uk wide a removable company that's uk wide it doesn't really matter which is whatever's most suitable for you is what you should choose but getting about three quotes should be quite suitable in order to ascertain which is most suitable for you and also recommendations from friends and family because they've obviously used the company before so it'd be a lot more useful for you to go with a company that is recommended four packing and decluttering so as i said at the very beginning when you want to find something that you've lost the best way to find it is to move house so if you have to declutter everything it does make moving a lot easier because you don't want to go to your new property with things that you just don't need haven't used in ages and just and just cluttering up your new location so as you're packing i think you should have at least two piles piles to move with and piles for either throwing actually three three piles pile four moving with puffer throwing away and a pile for charity or given to friends and family so at least that way you know which which pile you're taking with you which pile needs to go in the bin because a pile that goes to the bin that's not going to be good for anybody it's probably got holes in it or it's discolored or unused or it's got a funky smell those items you don't want to pass on to somebody else but then if it's in good position let's say for example it's closed and you've got um a 10 year old and you've kept some clothes from when they were three or four that would be really good to be able to pass on to either family and friends who's now gonna have another child or their child is growing or give it to a charity where that would be you know very useful for those who are gonna need those clothes so if this is clothes or you can have it for larger items not necessarily mattresses but you know the base of a bed the wardrobe evenings like bikes you know there's all sorts of things that can be passed on to charities and there is um charity for example the heart foundation they will even come to your home and collect items from your home for you so you don't have to literally lift it from your home and take it to the charity they will come and collect it for you and obviously sell those items so three piles so one pile to take to your new location another pile to throw away and the third pile to give to a charity so decluttering like i said is really important because then when you move to a new property you're literally starting all over again it's a fresh new space for you don't take all the old nonsense with you just start again move with items that will be useful for you and your family five things moving day so on the day you're moving everyone's very excited maybe you have the children with you maybe you know you're going to have them moving all items with them they've got their little bag so pack them in a little bag make sure they feel important give them a little suitcase let them feel that they're getting involved in the big move i think it's important to let them at least say goodbye to the old house let them know depending on the age the younger the children are the more they need to you know let them know that they're moving to a new location and make them feel part of the move along with the adults give them a little bag make them feel comfortable and know that this is a bag they have to take care of and that they're in charge of make sure you've packed a small bag for yourselves the adults so pack some food from the kitchen pack of small items for the bathroom so toothbrushes towels soaps shampoo that kind of thing pack stuff for the bedroom so you've got duvets you've got bed sheets you've got curtains and then some things for the front room so in the front room or dining room area just have some plates and i have some forks dining table chairs that kind of thing just so that when you go in to the new property you may not necessarily be ready to unpack everything straight away but at least you have some items there ready for you to go to use for that same day and that you can feel comfortable when you go into your new property because you're gonna be surrounded by loads of boxes and you won't necessarily have time depending on what time you move because some people move either first thing in the morning afternoon or last thing at night and you know depending on when you move you may not necessarily have a lot of time to unpack everything and feel comfortable in your home right then and there if you have certain items ready like certain bags ready but for you to unpack when you get there then it makes moving in a lot more comfortable for the adults and a lot more comfortable for the children also when you arrive you're gonna have a lot of posts most likely not a lot but a few items of post from the previous people who lived there so i would advise you to take that post put a cross through the top of it and just say please return to sender if the previous people did not give you a forwarding address then literally just cross a line through it and put return to sender and later on in the week just put those items back in the post box and then they will go back those items of the post will go back to the previous people or the people where they originally came from when you're leaving your home please make sure that you've cleaned the property so that it's nice and fresh for the new people to come in if you can arrange an end of tenancy clean then that'll be perfect so when the new people arrive that it's nice and fresh and it smells good and it hasn't got any of your items in there that was perfect for when a new a new person arrives into the property so obviously at the new house you should be waiting for the locksmith to come so if you're not renting the property and you've actually purchased the property then you should change the locks for your security of your family so you should have ranged prior to moving at the property a locksmith to come on the day that you move in to change the locks and make you feel secure if you're renting the property then the locks would have been changed by the landlord and they would have given you a new key so there's no harm there's no reason for you to be changing the locks when you're renting a property a day or two after arriving at the property even the same day depending on how organized you are there's nothing wrong with going around to your neighbors and introducing yourself saying hello finding out what they do just introducing yourself especially if you're living in in something like a cul-de-sac where it's just a small amount of properties in in this specific area or just along just along your road the left side of you and the right side of you there's nothing wrong with knocking on the door and introducing yourself if you go as a big family then it makes you feel a bit more comfortable the adults and the children especially if they've got children as well it's always nice to be able to say hello to those who you live next to and also if you happen to go on holiday or happen to be away it's nice to be able to speak to your neighbors and ask them just keep a look over your house when you've gone away it's just it's nice especially in this kind of current situation it's always good to be able to check on your neighbors so especially when you first move in it gives you a nice feel of the area they can let you know what's going on in the area and just it's just much more comfortable
