Industry sign banking iowa job offer now

hello and welcome to the Career Center at UC Berkeley this is the first of a three-part video series to help college-level job and internship seekers successfully evaluate and negotiate job offers in this video we'll be covering how to evaluate a job offer and compare it to others who might have so you got a job offer congratulations that's a really big accomplishment before making any decisions at all verbal or otherwise make sure that you've got the offer in writing this makes sure that this is an official offer that could be an email a PDF or a physical copy once you've gotten the written offer take a step back now we realized job searching is really hard and it may be tempting to sign on the dotted line and have your friends and family on speed-dial however it's crucial to take a step back and give yourself some time to evaluate whether this job is actually one you want to take and make sure that there's nothing left on the negotiations table what do I mean by that here's an example in a recent study done by Glassdoor in 2018 39 percent of recent grads reported that they negotiated their salary during their first job offer however 75 percent of employers in the same survey reported that they're willing to negotiate salary and other job components with recent college grads that means that a lot of college graduates are leaving things on the table and not even considering negotiating the job offer that they have in hand now that you've let the recruiter or the hiring manager you're working with know that you'd like a little time to make your decision let's talk about the possible elements of a job offer because for some of you you may have never actually seen a real job offer before you'll notice that in each section of this slide there are certain items that are bolded the purpose in building those is to show you what items in a job offer may be more likely to be on the negotiating table than others so let's look at the basics first the basics of a job offer which you could probably expect in any job offer or your job title the salary your start date location who your manager is going to be how long you have to decide when you're going to accept and then some certain things that they may require like a background check a drug test or security clearance salary is definitely something that as covered in the previous slide could definitely be something that may be negotiable as well as when you start the location of there are multiple locations and when you have to decide some of you may experience some additional things on a job offer such as a sign-on bonus stock options relocation expenses your hours and then the probationary period and performance review the items in bold here are sometimes negotiable not always but sometimes the last part of a job offer is the benefits these are typically fixed and are the same across the board for all entry-level candidates like you however there are a couple items in here that you could possibly work into negotiations if it would help you feel more confident in this being the job for you and those are vacation and time off and tuition reimbursement okay now that you've gotten that offer in writing and you've looked at all those different components that we just covered it's important to now take a step back and really think about what you're looking for in your first job I would suggest everyone watching this pause the video and take a moment to write down your top five or six items out of this list that you would personally consider to be the most important things that you're gonna be thinking about when you get your first job out of college these could be very different for one person and versus the other person standing right next to them once you've evaluated what's important to you now we can actually go back into the job and the job offer and see where things line up and where there might be some discrepancies that you might want to negotiate so step three the next thing you want to do is assess the job role is this a job that you want is it a role that is going to fit your needs and some of those values that you just checked off so some of the questions you might look for our things like the job location is it going to have a long commute skills and interest fit is it's going to be something that's going to challenge you and interest you and excite you culture fit work-life balance advancement opportunities etc so now you can look at the components of the actual job itself and then what you learn from the interview and now apply it to that value system and see where there might be some gaps and also assess for things that might be really great the last step before you really decide what you're going to do is to assess the offer itself when you look at that offer letter you may be interested in something like health benefits if you know that you are a family member have a health issue that might be your number one value and your number one question when you're looking at that offer and maybe something you want more information on from your recruiter or employer another person may be highly interested in salary and starting salary so that's your number one and you have to assess whether or not that is a salary that would work for you now we put it all together so you've set up your priorities and I would suggest anybody create a basic table like this to help you weigh out your pros and cons so you've listed out your priorities and you know what's most important to you and say you have multiple offers it's okay if you only have one offer it's still good to create a table like this to really visualize what it is you need if you have multiple offers this is an even better exercise to help you see how your offers stack up against each other and how you can use negotiating practices to get another X in one of those columns that could help tip the scale and help you make a decision between multiple offers thank you for joining us for this video video number two of this series will cover how to actually prepare to negotiate follow us on social media at at Cal Career Center for additional resources for Cal students and members of the community

The BEST Decision We Made

What do you like best?

We were previously using an all-paper hiring and on-boarding method. We switched all those documents over to Sign Now, and our whole process is so much easier and smoother. We have 7 terminals in 3 states so being all-paper was cumbersome and, frankly, silly. We've removed so much of the burden from our terminal managers so they can do what they do: manage the business.

What do you like best?

I love that I can complete signatures and documents from the phone app in addition to using my desktop. As a busy administrator, this speeds up productivity . I find the interface very easy and clear, a big win for our office. We have improved engagement with our families , and increased dramatically the amount of crucial signatures needed for our program. I have not heard any complaints that the interface is difficult or confusing, instead have heard feedback that it is easy to use. Most importantly is the ability to sign on mobile phone, this has been a game changer for us.

How do you make a document that has an electronic signature?

How do you make this information that was not in a digital format a computer-readable document for the user? " "So the question is not only how can you get to an individual from an individual, but how can you get to an individual with a group of individuals. How do you get from one location and say let's go to this location and say let's go to that location. How do you get from, you know, some of the more traditional forms of information that you are used to seeing in a document or other forms. The ability to do that in a digital medium has been a huge challenge. I think we've done it, but there's some work that we have to do on the security side of that. And of course, there's the question of how do you protect it from being read by people that you're not intending to be able to actually read it? " When asked to describe what he means by a "user-centric" approach to security, Bensley responds that "you're still in a situation where you are still talking about a lot of the security that is done by individuals, but we've done a very good job of making it a user-centric process. You're not going to be able to create a document or something on your own that you can give to an individual. You can't just open and copy over and then give it to somebody else. You still have to do the work of the document being created in the first place and the work of the document being delivered in a secure manner."
