hey guys today we're going to show you how to apply for an ein for a non-profit organization it's going to be tax exempt i'm mike and this is adam hello first we're going to google irs and application notice that there are some weird clearly websites ends in a.com is not going to be a government website so skip all the ads go to this one that is actually irs.gov make sure it has the secure logo there and you can read through this i've already done that plenty of time so we're going to go to apply online now okay begin the application because it's a non-profit organization we're going to click this last button it will be considered a tax exempt organization okay [Music] kind of have to read through make sure you understand exactly what your organization is going to be doing and click here and get some more details ours is going to be a pto parent-teacher organization i'm going to hit continue and ask me to confirm that i understand what a pto is and then i'm going to pause the video so you don't see my client's information but you'll fill this out next okay here's the next screen again i'm not going to show you the client's information but i am going through this adam and i are doing this for an actual client right now um one thing that you need to understand on the last page is that if you are the actual board member applying for this or an officer then you can do this on your own behalf if not you do need a consent form signed by um an officer or director what's that one called adam uh it's an ss4 okay pause this and we'll be right back okay so we're continuing to fill out the information and click through make sure that you understand where and when this business was located we have open in a separate screen the corporation commission website which is in arizona that's the equivalent of the secretary of state that you would see in in most states in arizona you do want to go to ecorp.azcc.gov i will find there the formation date just last month october 2020 and i'm going to pause it to fill this out okay so now we're on the next page for this particular organization i know that all of these are going to be no they do not pay any employees hit continue and then i don't believe the nonprofit purpose is listed here so i would go to other camera get out of the way okay um organization should ask for some more specific parent teacher organization okay so type in the parent teacher organization if that's when you're doing otherwise type in the applicable organization and then continue it should take you to this last page i don't know why anybody would like to receive it by mail if you're doing the application online and you've done it correctly it will print immediately okay so i've taken a screenshot and cropped out the client information but this is basically what the the confirmation page will look like after i have checked over this i'm going to go ahead and hit submit see if we get an ein okay so we actually didn't get the ein and we know the reason we suspected this might happen we've seen it before it's because this particular organization it's a unique situation but they had a another organization with the same name and the same address that was a trust the one we're forming is a corporation and the ein computer database found the same name and the same address and decided that that would have been a duplicate although you know we understand that instructions require us to form a new uh because we formed a new corporation um we have to get a new ein and so we're gonna have to file a manual um ein and this is called irs form ss4 and again i'm gonna skip over the ads go to the one that says irs.gov and now we're going to manually fill this out i'm going to stop the video there you guys can take this from here when you do this there are instructions on where to file it if you go back uh here here's where you can get the instructions um and then it'll tell you how to paper file it who needs to sign it etc adam anything to add before we wrap up that's it okay all right thank you
