do you trust the government to control and manage all of your data and your digital identity do you trust the government to keep your information secure well it seems we're going to have to because the government's digital ID law has now passed despite objections from the Coalition and from one nation it seems we now stuck with a digital ID which while voluntary at the moment might not be voluntary for that long now ironically this was actually bad timing it occurred in the same week as Unis super was recovering from a data deletion bungle from which it only recovered because it had three data backups now in this case it appears it was an accidental data deletion but worse during this time period we had the ironically named Med secure it was with a ransomware data breach that is a bad and inos spicious start the digital ID laws came into being contemporaneous with Unis super data leash an issue and a ransomware attack on medic secure the timing couldn't be worse unless of course it occurred during the Opus hack or the med Bank hack or any number of other hacks where data was breached in essence we've had so many data breaches and so many hacks and so many data bungles it Beggars Bel the government thinks this is a good idea and indeed I'm not sure the government is doing this in our best interests so much as to amass more and more control with this she number of data breaches one wonders why on Earth would Australians actually want this why would voters want a digital ID maybe politicians and the government do but voters most certainly do not this is yet another example of the government as a massive principal agent conflict a principal agent conflict arises where a principal for example a shareholder hires an agent for example a CEO to perform a task for them the conflict arises when the agent has different objectives and incentives from those of the principal so for example a CEO might want to go and donate shareholder money to a pet political cause even if the shareholders don't want this that would be an example of a principal agent conflict in this case the politicians might want more and more control they might want more and more data from their voters even if the voters don't want this it is a principal agent conflict now at present like I've said the digital ID would only be used by govern government and would be entirely voluntary but here there were two operative parts to it used by government and voluntary and both of those have issues personally I'm more concerned about the government having masses of data than some random company that is trying to sell me things that I don't need after all if you look at the hack need report that Facebook or meta has all of our data so what does it matter if the government does well that really makes no sense because meta so Instagram and Facebook they just want to sell us random junk that we don't need they're just advertising it is to some extent a little bit pernicious in that it might waste our money and waste our time but it isn't per se designed to control us necessarily now we grant that there are concerns about meta training to control the narrative and the LA however it is an order of magnitude less bad than the government because the government clearly would have an interest in controlling the population as we saw during the pandemic and the less power the government has the better it is and the less power the government has the less is its ability to implement a willan Concepts such as a social credit score which has occurred elsewhere or such as the de banking that occurred in Canada the less government can control things the better then there's the notion that this is voluntary well that is itself myopic it might be voluntary now the government can change the law in the future often this would be couched in Law and Order rhetoric it's couched in phology suggesting it is in our best interests to keep us safe but then there is the overreach effect of this and even if their present intention is genuinely to make it voluntary and genuinely to try to help voters and I don't believe that what about their future intentions when setting laws you need to consider what the possible outcomes from it are and you need to guard against those you don't just consider what is the present circumstance you need to consider all of the future possibilities and the possibility for abuse further the voluntary digital ID is a step toward compulsory ones it's a step toward requiring a digital ID to do all manner of things maybe you'll need a digital ID to go to center link maybe then you'll need a digital ID to open a bank account maybe you'll need a digital ID to access any government service it's better to stop it now and not take that first step because once you've taken the first step then the second step becomes a possibility but that second step of further government control is never possible if you don't have the digital ID to begin with so why then is this digital ID bad well obviously you've got the idea of government control and also just imagine what happens if the government leaks personal information maybe a disgruntled employee might do so or maybe someone that is politically motivated thinking they're acting altruistically by leaking data might do so this is not implausible after all just look at all of the shenanigans ongoing in relation to president Trump the government could also stud inching toward a social credit score how long until you need a digital ID to open a bank account as well and then the government will start demanding data from those bank accounts and then how long until they start monitoring what you are buying and monitoring your expenditures monitoring whether or not you're spending too much money on carbon related expenditures already there are reports that banks are trying to come up with ways for be able to assess how much carbon has gone into their expenditure just think about the government having access to that data and then penalizing people if they're seen as to polluting in the government's eyes now this might not occur one might argue it is a small possibility but why make that possibility slightly larger why not keep it at absolutely zero it is better to completely avoid that possibility and reduce or remove that risk rather than having the risk increase over time why open ourselves up to abuse when we can stop it right now by not having the digital ID it beggers belief that people can be so myopic as to think there won't be Mission creep in relation to the digital ID and that things won't get worse when the government has a taste of potential power and can see what it could do with additional information if it gets access to it now the labor party of course has shown a tendency toward ever more government control which means they have no credibility here they have no trust here the labor party doesn't get Goodwill it dovetails for example into their misinformation Bill their attempt to clamp down on so-called misinformation while exempting themselves from that prohibition the government has Exempted itself from any scrutiny about whether its information is misinformation it is absurd then there's the Reliance on the E safety commissioner the E safety commissioner or E Karen as she's colloquially known has clearly gone overboard trying to censor footage of the stabbing of Bishop Mar Mari Emanuel which as I've talked about in Prior videos is footage of an actual incident that people should be able to see so they can cross validate what the reporting is otherwise they would just have to trust what the media says and that is a bad position to be in it also correlates with Jim Charmers and his emphasis on Central planning as we saw in the recent budget Jim charma seems to want to control the economy Anthony alanes seems to want to control information and how that gets out there they appear to want more and more control the AL seems to be obsessed with more government control maybe they think they know best maybe they just control freaks maybe it's both now of course the liberal party doesn't get off the hook here they been unfortunately inconsistent the Liberal Party itself actually floated the idea of a digital ID and drafted a bill before dropping the idea at least they dropped the idea but they shouldn't have opened Pandora's box also parts of the Liberal Party have gone all in on the E safety commissioner however the liberal party needs to stand up for being the party of Freedom if they w't make any progress against the aop at the moment the liberal party just seems a little bit inconsistent they don't have message cut through they don't really know they stand for it appears they vacillate too much between positions if they stand for being the party of Freedom that might be a winning line it might be a winning line to go to voters and say we stand for you having more Liberty more freedom being able to do what you want reducing government control however they don't seem to have much of a willingness to do this they are less bad than the Alp but they certainly are not perfect and they have been very inconsistent this to some extent is why I think they are likely to lose the next federal election they simply de too much and don't have message cut through one nation by contrast and to its credit has actually been very consistent on this issue I'm not necessarily sure I agree with them on some other issues but at least on the areas of government control they seem to want to reduce it and prevent government taking control of more and more parts of society unfortunately however now that we' have crossed the Rubicon into a digital ID it appears that it's here to stay and there is no going back it's going to be difficult to repeal this bill because when you repeal the bill obviously the other side is going to start raising the Law and Order rhetoric they're going to try to say that the digital ID is just here for our protection and the people trying to remove it are simply trying to let wrongdoers off the hook that's clearly what they are going to say even though I would dare say the majority of Voters don't want this bill to come into being now of course if the digital ID system is or it has a massive data breach it would clearly lose all cred ability which to be honest wouldn't surprise me at all if it occurs because this would look like a honey pot to any potential hacker so clearly you can see that I'm not convinced by the
