persons can be added and authorized to e-verify the forms and returns in case of ngos today in this video i shall discuss how to register the digital signature of the key person in case of ngos before moving on to the topic directly let me give you a brief background on a major change brought about in this regard on the new income tax portal previously the java utility file was being used for generating digital signature and the xml file generated could have been attached for verifying the forms and returns of the organization of which you are the authorized key person but with the launch of new portal instead of java utility file and em signer utility has been introduced so no more generating the xml file of the signature is now possible which could have been uploaded even later and one has to have the key physically with him or her at the time of filing the forms and the returns of the organization moreover another major change which has been brought is that unlike in the old portal the digital signature cannot be registered by logging in the portal of the organization i repeat the digital signature cannot be registered by logging in the portal of the organization it has to be now registered on the individual e-filing portal of that particular key person who has been authorized to e-verify the income tax returns and the forms on behalf of the organization only then it will be reflected as registered for all the organizations in which he or she has been authorized for e-verification so let us see how to register a digital signature certificate if you already have an e-filing account after logging on to your portal go to the option of my profile which you will find in the drop down list on the extreme right hand corner of the portal here you will find the option of register dsc on the left panel of your dashboard click on it here you will be asked to confirm whether you have downloaded and installed em signer utility if yes just check the box or you can find down here the option of downloading the em signer utility with the instructions related to its installation also on the right panel you can see some faqs the frequently asked questions has been listed related to the digital signature certificate suppose you have not installed the em signer utility so let's click here to download once you click on it a zip folder will be downloaded just open the folder in which it must have been saved put your cursor on the downloaded folder and right click to extract the folder click on that option of extract where the name of the folder is mentioned which is this one and not extract files or extract here once you extract it you will see a normal folder is created with the same name and on opening it you will find the application which needs to be set up now either double click on the icon or select the option run as administrator after doing right click on the icon a pop-up message might come on the screen where it will ask to set up the application click on yes and then click on next check this box which will create a shortcut of this application to your desktop this will make it easy for you to access utility file easily then click on next and then click on once the installation is complete click on finish [Music] you will find this icon on the screen with the name of em bridge and now the em signer utility is all ready to be used now you can check this box on the portal and click on continue here you are required to select the name of the provider and the certificate from the drop down which will automatically display the name of your digital signature provider and key so my digital signature certificate provider's name is e-pass and the certificate is test key then you are required to provide the password as soon as you provide the password the option of sign in will auto appear on the screen just click on it and your dsc will be registered please remember registering the digital signature certificate for the key person whom you have authorized to e-verify the returns and forms of the organization is mandatory and only then you will be able to file and e-verify any return or form on the new income tax portal you might also opt for e-verification through aadhaar otp but only if your mobile number and aadhaar is linked and only when you are not liable to file the income tax return mandatorily through attachment of digital signature certificate so this is all about registering the dsc on the new income tax portal in case of ngos hope now you will be able to process and file the returns and forms of
