so I'm very pleased to be able to sign on behalf of gain this MoU with FAO FAO is a leader in developing nourishing food systems that are sustainable for the world and for the people of the world and the world is getting more and more urban this presents new challenges and new opportunities to combat hunger and get people healthier diets that are affordable working in an urban space and linking it back to the rural space means we have to work with businesses more it means we have to work with municipal leaders more it means we have to work in a systems way in a much greater way than we have done before and these are some of the things that gain brings to the table our experience of working with businesses small medium and large our work in within the food system linking everything from what has grown to what is eaten from farm to fork and bringing in our ability to be on the ground understanding the lived realities of people and working hand-in-hand with municipal leaders so foul is very much working in the same space we have a great deal of complementarity so it's very exciting to be able to work together on this challenging issue people who live in urban centres are noisy when it comes to politicians politicians can hear them they can protest they can campaign they can do all sorts of social media stuff they can be in there in the regular media so politicians really have to pay attention to what urban consumers say even if they are low income consumers so their needs need to be listened to very carefully very often we think of urban settings as being better than rural settings but they're very uneven often you'll find great deal of inequality in an urban setting high-income people living right next door to people are destitute have no no water no no food no shelter so it's very important that we pay attention to these issues government leaders mayor's vice mayor's they want their cities to be attractive to capital they want businesses to come to their cities to generate jobs to generate tax revenues to generate a sense of well-being and so to do that they have to make sure that things are working properly for their citizens but also for businesses so it's it's very much a virtuous cycle
