hey so I heard that you got a new job and that you're leaving us well I thought I did but Bosch just told me we have a non-compete clause in our contract so apparently I'm not allowed to work there anymore wait why did you tell them where you were going um I don't know he asked what I could have just not told him well yeah it's none of his business and then you wouldn't have to worry about the non-compete but couldn't he just find out where I work anyways like on LinkedIn after I leave or by word of mouth in the future yeah I guess that's true and even though you would have already left because a non-competes in place to protect the business from losing Trade Secrets and business strategies they could have still come after you in the future exactly so I guess I'd rather not be looking over my shoulder anyways is enforceable even if you signed one what do you mean well some places like California North Dakota Oklahoma and Ontario Canada have completely banned non-compete agreements and in other places it can be really hard to stop the employee from actually working at the new company even if they sign something interesting so do you think I should still take the new job I think you should talk to a lawyer first and follow us for more
