[Music] so to be a good recruitment consultant I think number one is stakeholder management being able to read the client's needs again do research skills so really analytical being able to go and have a look at what that client's about from what they're selling but also what their values and purpose is so that they can really go back to the client with a like a validation that they actually understand what what they're about I think detail is important and when I say detail it's not necessarily attention to detail with facts and figures which does play into it because if you're negotiating wages and things like that it definitely has to do with understanding like the detail of people like really understanding the nuances of the human and what they're about and getting curious as I said about that I started in a commission-based role and what's a surprise me is how easily you get distracted if it's a sales role in terms of trying to make sure you get the person across the line opposed to making sure you get the right person so for me bringing those skills to the table is really really important to make sure that it was not about getting a you know a person on a seat it was around getting the right person for the right business I think if you find yourself in a traditional recruitment role which is often commission based um you can sometimes get a little bit pigeonhole because it is sales Focus however if you've got a real natural desire to understand people you know leadership positions I've worked with lots of recruiters who have just done some amazing things with career planning and you know coaching other recruiters so there's definitely pathways so I guess they've got to understand whether it's a recruitment consultant role that's sales which was a very traditional model and or if it's a role that's more consultative and it's more um not that traditional model which is a different personality type so I think if you're really sales focused you know you'd be looking to see whether that traditional role was about was what you were applying for and going for I post with you more relationships and more around really building those relationships and building out teams then you know that's a different attribute and skill set [Music]
