letter is how you are able to explain or communicate to the employer that you are the right candidate for that specific job so how you go about it number one is to read through the job description to have a clear understanding of what is it that they are looking for and if that description kind of describes you then you write a very short and crisp cover letter to tell them that you're that person so it might have maybe three to four paragraphs the first part of talking about uh who you are and the position you are applying for and why you believe to be the perfect candidate then the paragraph number two pick out very specific roles that have been mentioned or skills that have been mentioned in the job description so I mean like we need someone who can come in and do computer networking then say I am qualified for this position because I have the skills needed for computer networking something about that so the whole idea is to show them that you're looking for this kind of person I am that kind of person yeah great so from your view a cover letter shouldn't be long it should be as brief as possible right yes I shot one uh page three maximum four paragraphs great and let's go into CV writing you know there have been an argument lately saying that when you want to write your CV it's a must you put in your gender you put in your sex and religion what do you think about that do you think it should be part of the CV I would say initially a while ago that used to be biodata which was important to the CV but in today's day and age such information is not important on your CV because it does not really translate to your ability to work so if I put my marriage or status does that mean I am able to do a certain uh kind of job so these are information that would be needed a baby probably later when they are putting up your employee file just to have some more information about you but at that level of job application process that information is not relevant yeah I agree with you yeah so still talking about the CV writing could you give some important tips on how to write a CV effectively okay I would say a CV again looking back we have said a cover letter shows that you are the right candidate for a position then at the bottom there you can tell them for more information find a touch by CV so your CV is the one that carries all and any evidence that supports your candidature and also goes over and above to show your professional life and what you are capable of doing so having known that you need to be very specific in terms of the information you put there there's some information which is important but not relevant to the job application process as you have said marital status gender date of birth those might not add value but the key things will be number one talk about the contact details should be on top of your CV how should they get in touch with you your name your email address your phone number and sometimes optional you can put in a link to your LinkedIn uh profile then talk about the key skills that you have you need it's important for you to include key skills in your CV talk about their qualification or education background what you have you can also mention your experience but one mistake I find people do when it comes to experience yeah I was used to work in this company then they list the responsibilities which is that old way of doing things yeah you can mention a few responsibilities but I try to focus on what did you do that was very unique what are some of the achievements that you got from that specific role because that is what really sets you apart from the rest and then of course uh referees sometimes in some countries they will say yeah put them as put them or just say they're available on requests some answers I say yes practice almost what for what what is it that you're going to say when you ask certain questions does that mean they will come exactly that way when you're in an interview most of the time probably not but you are way much better when you have practiced and do a slightly lesser version of what you did rather than being caught off guard during the interview some of the most
