How to eSign a document: online signature licitness for Pregnancy Leave Policy in Canada

hi everyone my name is jess and today we're going to talk about how much maternity leave you should actually take all right let's go ahead and get [Music] started all right everyone welcome back to my channel if you're new here go ahead and hit that subscribe button below it would help me out a lot and you'll be reminded that every single monday i do post new content okay the biggest reason why you're here you want to know how much maternity leave that you should take well i'm not going to tell you how much you should take because i think it's a personal choice i think there are so many factors of in your country how much time is available about your job so i'm going to focus on five reasons why i have decided to take the amount of time i am and hopefully when i give you all my reasoning you can go ahead and compare that to your story and see what fits with your family whether you're a single parent or you have a spouse at home you do need to go through this decision together and you need to figure out what works for you your finances your work etc so i'm going to go ahead and get started here typically in canada it is a one year sometimes it's even 18 months it can be a little longer that you have money coming in from the government and you also have the option to have your job when you return which is fantastic benefit in canada so i wanted to clear that up if you are watching and you're not in canada that is the standard is the one year what i have decided to take is six months and i'm going to give you five reasons why i decided that on my own number one would be i absolutely love to work i love the idea of having a routine back because right now when you do have a little baby in the house there is not much routine it is kind of all over the place you're learning you know you're learning as you go so right now i like to have a routine get back to work wake up take care of my baby get in front of the computer and work and and use my adult brain to solve solutions and help customers and then get back to my baby after work so there can be some sort of routine in place and there has to be to manage to work and to be a full-time mom as well so number one i like to work and i like to have a routine and schedule number two being working at dell technologies it is a global company there are employees all over the world and all different countries so when you work with people let's say in india or the us they don't have this one year luxury and to be honest i feel bad if i was going to take one year and my fellow colleagues that are in the same department are only going to be taking three months or six months i have a hard time taking that one year and then leaving them in the dust for those three months and i know if you're watching this you would say well that's not a good reason for me it's a reason enough for for me to get back into the workplace at six months now the third reason why i've decided to go back a little bit earlier than that one year or a lot is due to the fact that i can do shared paternity leave so my husband is going to start taking paternity leave in november and december and he has the opportunity to have some really good bonding time time that we will never get back to spend with our son so i'm really looking forward to him having his time and me taking the load on to go to work and i think it's such a great example for him that it's not just the woman or the person that is giving birth in the family to look after the baby so i really i really like that uh the fourth reason that i am coming back early is the company i've worked at is allowing me to gradually come back so in november i will only be working it three days a week and then december will be full time i know a gradual comeback in one month is not you know that that long but it is going to allow me to have some time to figure out how to be a full-time mom and how to be a full-time employee and how do i manage those two so i'm so grateful that i have enough vacation accumulated that i can take those days off in november and slowly get back into the workplace because let me tell you it's not going to be easy and the last reason i am coming back early is we work in the tech industry the tech industry is a male dominated industry and whether we like it or not unfortunately whether it's 90 percent whether it's 80 percent those people are not taking paternity leave and when you're in a tech industry where the industry is rapidly changing i have a hard time stepping away for one year and seeing all the different changes so the tech industry is also pushing me to come back a little bit earlier but other than that those are my five things or tips or whatever of why i'm coming back at six months i absolutely love to work i cannot wait to use my adult brain instead of just changing diapers and just playing on the floor all day and i believe that my son will be in great hands and when he starts daycare he will get to interact with other children where i am not able to stimulate him as he goes uh grows older so power to you moms or dads that stay at home full time you are courageous you have loads of energy and i applaud you for being able to stay at home for that long it's it's a wonderful gift that you're giving your children so if you have any tips of me re-entering the workplace or you want to talk about in your country how maternity leave works i would be so curious go ahead and write in the comments i respond to all of them and i love hearing your stories about where you are from and if you like this video feel free to give me a thumbs up and i will see you next monday okay take care [Music] [Applause] you
