Which makes sense because they do, or can, affect multiple things in the overall system.However, there are pure web service tools that can be integrated with a users Salesforce data via their login. Good examples are Cirrus Insight and Yesware which allow the end user to install their Gmail app, and then login to Salesforce so they can synch emails with their Leads and Contacts.I wish there were an easier way as our own product is oft desired by the sales or marketing leader, but then gets held up waiting to go through the admin. Just the way things work - for now anyway. While the web service way described above seems like a real win, there are serious advantages to being fully native and inside of Salesforce.
