What are the benefits of electronic signature?
What is Digital Signature? And Benefits of Digital Signature CertificatesA digital signature is basically a way to ensure that an electronic document (e-mail, spreadsheet, text file, etc.) is authentic. Authentic means that you know who created the document and you know that it has not been altered in any way since that person created it.Digital signatures rely on certain types of encryption to ensure authentication. Encryption is the process of taking all the data that one computer is sending to another and encoding it into a form that only the other computer will be able to decode. Authen...

Are the mobile signatures used in Square, PayPal and Flint payment apps legally binding?
In all 50 states and territories of the US "Electronic Signatures" are viewed as enforceable and binding to all parties to the agreement(s). The electronic facsimile of a cardholder's signature is not just an artifact of Flint, but also of Square, PayPal and other mobile payment companies. You will also witness signature pads at all large retailers in the US.The First Electronic Signature Was Morse CodeThe case law signNowes back to the 1850s in the US where Morse Code was transmitted via Telegraphy [1].Saturday, June 10th, 1871, Samuel F. B. Morse sending his last telegraph message, his signature: "S ... F .-. B -... M -- O . . R . .. S ... E ." to a standing ovation.1869 And The First Legal Test Of An Electronic SignatureIn 1869 the New Hampshire Supreme Court decided a case that challenged if a telegraphed contract was valid. In the findings:"It makes no difference whether that operator writes the offer or the acceptance, with a steel pen an inch long attached to an ordinary penholder, or whether his pen be a copper wire a thousand miles long. In either case the thought is communicated to the paper by the use of the finger resting upon the pen; nor does it make any difference that in one case common record ink is used, while in the other case a more subtle fluid, known as electricity, performs the same office."This ruling has formed the foundation in US law all the way up to the Facsimile machine and the current finger signatures that are common to the current smartphone payment apps. The US codified the law more clearly in the E-Sign Act ( the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act} from 2001 [2]. This expands upon the prior Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA) [3].The E-Sign Act states:(a) IN GENERAL.—Notwithstanding any statute, regulation, or other rule of law (other than this title and title II), with respect to any transaction in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce—(1) a signature, contract, or other record relating to such transaction may not be denied legal effect, validity, or enforce- ability solely because it is in electronic form; and(2) a contract relating to such transaction may not be denied legal effect, validity, or enforceability solely because an electronic signature or electronic record was used in its formation.A Payment Card Transaction Is A Signed ContractA Payment Card transaction is a contract between the cardholder and the card issuing bank and indirectly the merchant. When a cardholder authorizes a bank for the use of a Payment Card they are also authorizing your approval of all transactions with or without a signature. Thus at the very least there is cardholder authorization for a transaction that was conducted using an Electronic Signature regardless of the E-Sign Act. But with the E-Sign Act the mark would be considered valid unless the cardholder contests or otherwise repudiates the transaction. This would be considered a Chargeback and it is another thing entirely (see: Brian Roemmele's answer to How do you prevent people from using chargebacks as a method for refunds?).Apple And A New IOS "Home Button", A Finger Print Electronic Signature SystemThe electronic signature will continue to evolve. In the future other unique identifiers will be used to confirm or authorize a payment card transaction. Look for Apple to release an integrated fingerprint scanner (for a multitude of reasons) in to new IOS devices that can be used as an electronic signature to confirm and authorize payment card transactions (see: Brian Roemmele's answer to Why did Apple buy AuthenTec?). This feature will form the basis of Apple's new iWallet and extension to Passbook. Image from the 2008 Apple patent 20100082444 showing NFC Logo and fingerprint scanner (using the older AuthenTec thin rectangular finger print scanner AES2750). I believe the actual fingerprint scanner will be the Home Button using another AuthenTec product. A long JourneyThe electronic signature has come a very long way from the days of Mr. Morse's invention. However the intent continues to perform the same basic human function, I authorize and confirm this contract.___1) Privacy Issues In Federal Systems:2) Page on Gpo3) Uniform Electronic Transactions Act

What is the difference between a digital signature and an electronic signature in your professional opinion?
Both terms - “electronic signature” and “digital signature” - are often used interchangeably, they aren’t exactly the same. Electronic signatures could be considered virtual representations of a pen-and-paper (“wet”) signatures. Digital signatures, also called cryptographic signatures, are a type of electronic signature that’s coded and encrypted in order to prevent the impersonation of a signee, tampering, and improve security overall. The main difference is that a digital signature is mainly used to secure documents and is authorized by certification authorities while an electronic signature (e-signature, e-sign) is usually associated with a contract where the signer has got the intention to do so: Difference Between Digital Signature and Electronic SignatureE-signature helps an individual to show his agreement to the conditions and terms of an electronic service. It can also be used to confirm the identity of the message's creator. Many countries give the same legal importance and significance to e-signatures as to traditional ways of executing documents. Here are the features of some most popular tools in this area: Best E-Signature Software Reviews & Comparisons | 2019 List of Expert's ChoicesWith electronic signature tools you avoid signing digital documents by hand - which is tedious cause otherwise you need to print, sign and scan all that stuff - that’s why such tools are on the rise. If you work with such signatures often, maybe you need some simple free tool which is specialized exactly for your business tasks. It really depends on the purpose for which you need this to sign an already typed document - it is often better to use a specialized tool, like Draw Your Signature Online and Sign PDF - CreateMySignature.com (instead of a regular image editor) to streamline your business documents workflow.

How can I be a programmer if I am doing a B.Tech at BITS Pilani in chemical engineering?
You can learn programming yourself. Not like they have to teach you or like you have to be in the Computer Engineering course. You can learn programming, teach yourself programming through all the resources available online and you can apply off campus if you develop yourself to that level where you are confident of getting through the interview, off campus. A degree means nothing when you have the skill.Learn programming with C and then move on to C++ or Java -use these books - LET US C, LET US C++and then use this book for comprehensive indepth knowledge - THE C++ Programming Language by Bjarne Stroustroup. If you choose JAVA - use headfirst java to get started, and move on to SCJP by kathy and sierra, or JAVA Docs. CHOOSE ONE and ONLY ONE PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE TO BECOME BETTER IN - Either C++ or JAVA (most widely used) - and stick with it for life (even though you might learn and become good in other languages, become the best in that one chosen language)Learn data structures and algorithms using CLRS book - code all those algorithms in the programming language of ur choice - using the instructions given in that book.Refer the following book if you are learning algorithms and want to code in java:And move to Algorithms 4th edition by Kevin Sedgewick - and learn the algorithmStart solving problems in SPOJ. Solve the first 300 most solved problems.Move on to codechef, codeforces. Do practice problems, and when you are confident enough, start participating in their monthly contests. After enough experience, move on to TOPCODER. Learn on the go, for every problem you need to solve. C++ would be a good choice to stick with, for a programming language. Java is slower compared to C++ and cpp gives you a competitive advantage in competitive programming with respect to speed. All these can be done within 4 years, by the end of which you will be a kickass programmer, who will be ready to get recruited into Google, making history as the first chemical engineer to become an SDE in Google.

Why were the Americans more successful at finding enemy carriers than the Japanese during the Pacific War?
At a tactical level, the premise of the question is arguable. As Gheorge Rider points out, US intelligence was much better, so US carriers showed up to a fight having some idea what the IJN would bring. But once within range, both sides needed to locate the enemy carriers and attack them. Japanese carrier aircraft were longer ranged than US carrier aircraft, an advantage that the Imperial Japanese Navy tried to exploit in battle, but it didn't always work and by 1944 the US had negated that advantage.Let's take a look at each of the carrier-on-carrier battles in the Pacific in World War II.Battle of the Coral SeaIJN: search pattern on May 7, 1942 - 250 milesIJN: search pattern on May 8, 1942 - 250 milesUSN: search pattern on May 7, 1942 - 250 mileUSN: search pattern on May 8, 1942 - 200 milesBattle of MidwayIJN: search pattern on June 4, 1942 - 345 milesUSN: search pattern on June 4, 1942 - 100 miles (Note: the US relied on air searches flown from Midway)Battle of the Eastern SolomonsIJN: search pattern on August 24, 1942 - 250 milesUSN: search pattern on August 24, 1942 - 200 milesBattle of the Santa Cruz IslandsIJN: search pattern on October 26, 1942 - 300 milesUSN: search pattern on October 25, 1942 - 200 milesUSN: search pattern on October 26, 1942 - 200 milesBattle of the Philippine SeaIJN: search pattern on June 18, 1944 06:00 - 425 milesIJN: search pattern on June 18, 1944 12:00 - 420 milesIJN: search pattern on June 19, 1944 04:45 - 350 milesIJN: search pattern on June 19, 1944 05:15 - 300 milesIJN: search pattern on June 19, 1944 05:30 - 560 milesUSN: search pattern on June 18, 1944 05:35 - 325 milesUSN: search pattern on June 18, 1944 13:30 - 325 milesUSN: search pattern on June 19, 1944 02:00 - 225 milesUSN: search pattern on June 19, 1944 05:30 - 325 milesBattle of Leyte GulfNote: I have no information on Japanese and US search patterns.(Details above from Lars Celander's How Carriers Fought: Carrier Operations in World War II.)All of the above searches were flown either by carrier aircraft or float planes from surface warships. The IJN relied on float planes flown from its cruisers to supplement searches flown from aircraft carriers. All of the above battles were fought within range of land based aircraft, sea planes or float planes, all of which were used as scouts and played a part in the battles. In general, IJN search patterns tended to be broader, usually covering 170 - 180 degrees, while US search patterns were more focused, usually 80 - 90 degrees. The Battle of the Coral Sea was an outlier for the US Navy: Fletcher ordered a 360 search. US searches were more focused because their intelligence was better; they usually knew what general direction Japanese carriers were coming from and the Japanese order of battle.Through 1942, both sides assumed that the first side that delivered a strike on enemy carriers would win the battle. To get the first strike in, the enemy carriers had to be spotted. So both sides usually launched a pre-dawn search to find the enemy carriers and get the first strike off as soon as possible. But a lot had changed by 1944.The US had the Grumman TBF Avenger that had a longer range than the Douglas SBD Dauntless. The Avenger could also carry radar, so in the Battle of the Philippine Sea, Avengers were flying the longer US searches and night searches.By 1944 US carrier tactics had changed. US commanders were less worried about getting in the first strike and preferred to send off a strike of dive bombers and torpedo bombers with robust fighter protection that would attack at the same time, even if that meant conceding the first strike to the IJN. In 1944, the US had many more carrier decks and fighters, much better fighter control, much better anti-aircraft guns and fire control and better air search radars. So USN commanders knew they could fend off the first strike and get in a devastating counterattack.

Many people are unable to vote because they live far from their native place. How can this problem be tackled in a represantive
In earlier times, you had to go to your bank branch physically for all types of banking operations. When you go to the bank, the clerk will verify your signature from the record, then debit the amount from your account on the page of the register and the cashier would pay you the money.Today, you can go to any ATM anywhere in the world and withdraw money from your account in any bank. This has become possible, because of the Central Banking System and digitization of all the data of the account holder.Today, all the data of the citizens of India is available with the Government in the form of Aadhar.Hence, it should be possible to interconnect all the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) through a central server and allow citizens to vote at any polling station across the country. You don’t even need/require the voter to carry an ID card since all the data is already available in the server of the Government.Voters thumb impression can be used as the identifier and that can totally eliminate the possibility of impersonation. You don’t even need expensive VVPAT EVMs since the voters can get the information about casting the vote directly on his mobile phones through SMS and emails.Even the result of the elections can be declared on the same day, within a few hours of voting. We must use technology in elections to make India a much better representative democracy.Source of pictures: Google Images
