What are some mind blowing life hacks?
1. Secure your footwear at templesThe quick hack to the problem is to never put your footwear together and if possible, turn one of them upside down. This drastically reduces the chances of your good looking footwear catching a thief’s eye. Thieves normally just pick up the ones that are kept together and look good at first glance before escaping the venue quickly.2. Make moving to a new city easier for yourselfLearn to say “I am learning the language” instead of “Sorry, I don’t know the language” in the language of the city you are moving to. People are always glad to hear that you are willing to make the effort to learn their language!3. Prevent cake from going stale in the fridgeKeeping the cake out in hot weather can spoil it while storing it in the fridge can make it go hard and stale. The solution to this never-ending confusion is this fantastic hack that will ensure the cake stays nice, fresh and soft in the fridge. All it takes are a few slices of bread and some toothpicks to cover the open parts of the cake that aren’t covered by frosting.4. Being nice can help you out of a tight spotBe extra nice to people like security guards, hotel staff, chauffeurs, waiters and valets. They work all day and rarely get a kind word in return. They also have a lot of information about the locality they work in. You’ll be surprised how much they can help in return.5. Keep your essentials safe on the beachA great beach life hack is to clean out an old sunscreen lotion bottle and hide your phone, money and keys in there! Chances are that no one will steal this from you and you can safely keep your stuff in there while you’re in the water.6. For when you doubt your tea cup is cleanIn India, local tea stalls often serve awesome tea. If you have ever visited these busy stalls and been afraid of having tea in a cup that you doubt is clean, this hack is for you. Just turn the cup by 180 degrees, hold it with the left hand and have your tea. Most people are right handed and hold the cup in their right hand thus using just one half of the cup opening. Its not foolproof but being cautious helps when you are not sure!7. Smelly shoes no moreHot weather in India often leads shoes to emit an unpleasant odour. Deodorize your stinky tennis shoes by inserting old tea bags in them. After all, who doesn’t like wearing fresh smelling shoes?8. Stay on the safer sidePretend to talk on your phone when taking an auto/cab late night and casually mention that you are travelling in a cab and going by so-and-so route. An extra step you take on a late night cab ride is taking a picture of its registration number and sending it to a family member or friend.9. Say goodbye to pesky mosquitoesLets face it, mosquitoes are an aggravation. The buzzing, the biting and the itching are enough to send the bravest outdoor lover back into the safety of the house. So if you find yourself in a place plagued with mosquitoes and with no bug repellent on hand, what you can do is ask around for a mentholated pain balm such as Vicks Vaporub. It works like a charm to keep the pesky mosquitoes away.10. Handy in an emergencyTake a photo of a list of all the medications used by the members of your immediate family on your cell phone. It’s handy to have in the case of an emergency or even when you take them to see a new doctor. You can also add other important details, like their allergies and blood types, to the list.11. Get your stuff backIf you often forget about the stuff you have loaned to others and to whom, this hack is for you. When friends borrows a tool or a beloved book, snap a photo of them holding it. Next time you need something and can’t remember who you gave it too, the photo will help you get it back.12. Stop chilli from burning a hole in your taste-budsWhile chillies can bring amazing flavor to Indian foods of all kinds, nobody likes the fiery sensation of a chilli burn. Since capsaicin, the compound which causes the burn, repels water, it is not something you can simply treat with water. Milk, yoghurt and bread are a better and more effective option when it comes to cooling your burning taste buds.Source : googleMake your life easy now. :DThanks for reading!

What are some effective Google search methods?
To search for an exact phrase and avoid other permutations/omissions: Type the phrase in double quotes (“query”).e.g. “Batman is Bruce Wayne” will only return results that contains the 4 words in that order (capitalization doesn’t matter though)To omit a particular word of phrase from the search results: Use a minus sign (-query).e.g. Tony Stark - “Robert Downey Jr.”P.S. You can replace the minus sign with the Boolean Operator NOTBoolean Operators need to be in capsTo search for two terms together: Use a plus sign (query1 + query2)e.g. “Peter Parker” + SpidermanP.S. You can replace the plus sign with the Boolean Operator ANDTo search only a particular website: Append site:sitename.com at the end of the query.e.g. “Steve and Bucky” site:tumblr.comP.S. no space between the colon and the sitename.Context searching: If you are searching for two words that you think should appear close to each other, and want to omit any results where they are distantly mentioned, use around(N) where N denotes the number of words between the two queries.e.g. Superman AROUND(10) Lois will return queries where Superman and Lois appear within 10 words of each other (in either order)To search for a particular filetype: Append filetype:extension at the end of the query.e.g. Doctor Bruce Banner research filetype:pdfCommon filetypes include doc, docx, ppt, pptx, png, jpg/jpeg, gif, etcYou can also search for normal websites that contains embedded objects (like doc, ppt, png etc) by using contains:fileextension operator. To search only in the URL of a webpage and not the webpage content itself: Type inurl:query.e.g. inurl:Thor would return websites whose URL contain the word ThorNo space between the colon and the search queryIf you need to search for URLs containing 2 or more words, use allinurl.e.g. allinurl: Thor Jane will search for websites whose URL contains both terms. (P.S. allinurl needs a space)To search only in the title of webpages or documents: Type intitle:query.Wildcard searches: Use asterisk (*)e.g. “Captain America vs *” will return searches like “Captain America vs Falcon”, “Captain America vs Winter Soldier”, “Captain America vs Iron Man”, “Captain America vs Red Skull” etcReverse image search: Right-click on any image, and choose “Search google for this image” to search the web for the said image (and close approximations of it).Time-bound search: Use the search tools to limit the results to before, after, or during a particular period. Useful if you want to search for an article or result from a specific date, week, month; or if you want to figure out the original article vs the plagiarized ones.Viewing the Google cached version of a website: If a website is down or not loading due to some issues, you can access the Google cached version of the same by typing cache:websitename.com along with any query.Range searching: To search for a range of number use two consecutive fullstops (..).e.g. “I will walk 100..500 miles” will return results for 401 different queries including “I will walk 399 miles” (doesn’t make sense though!)Google Scholar : To find research papers, theses, academic books and journals, and all sorts of scholarly and legal literature. How crucial is experience in a startup company before trying to launch your own?
Thanks for the A2ALet's look at what's the key ability of the founders of a successful startup before we get to answer this question:Deep understanding of the domain : An understanding which doesn't come from google, which doesn't come from someone else giving you an idea or which doesn't come from " oh...this us Uber of X or X of India". It comes from getting first hand experience of the problem. By talking to various stake holders, as to why the problem is the way it is. Why has no one solved it so far. These experiences and curiosity leads to some insight, which is 'your' insight. This 'insight' is the foundation of your startup.Expertise needed to solve the problem : For example, If the problem requires building a hardware device to solve the problem, you must know how to build it, or you must get a co-founder (not employee) who knows/understands how to build the hardware device. Same applies, to s/w, biotech, medicine or for that matter anything else. Just having an idea, and hiring people to build the solution rarely succeed. Ability to market & sell : Don't mistake of believing that if the product is good it'd sell for it self. NOTHING EVER SELLS FOR ITSELF! Every product needs either marketing, or sales or (most of the time) both. If you don't know how to peddle your product, you have a huge hurdle to cross. Again, hiring is not a solution. There are many more key success criterion for a startup, like market dynamics, team etc, but let's focus on the above with respect to this question. Now, let's answer the original question, is it crucial to work for other startups before starting on your own? Yes & No. If you have what it takes (all of the above) - you are good to go. However, if you are still toying with an idea, then it is best to work for someone else in the meanwhile.Do yourself a favour, do a self assessment and find out if check all the 3 items, then approach an experienced entrepreneur or any other mentor that you trust, let him grill you - you'd know if you are ready to start. All the best

How much do you earn as a doctor in India? Are you happy with it?
I earn very less, not even enough to support my old parents, forget a new family. And I’m nearing 30! Honestly, 2 types of students get into medical stream. 1. Family already has one/more doctors and the students are well informed about the long years of study and everything before jumping in. 2. Students who come from middle-class families, not-so-educated families, and have grown up envisioning most of their family members literally worship doctors and know nothing about medicine or the medical stream. I belong to the second category. Where it apparently looks like 6 yrs and then you are a graduate, and going to be self dependant, earning a lot, supporting your family and living happily ever after. The reality is way too different. I am just going to emphasize my experience, rather than options and opportunities after MBBS. 1. As I already said I am from the second category: my prior interest was earning seeing patients, and probably sometimes do the “free check-ups for social service” (which has been always there in a young doctor’s mind but our education system often crushes it). 2. So yes, I had immediately joined as an ICU junior resident after my internship, and that paid me ₹35,000 for 48 hours a week. 3. And later, I joined another hospital for the same salary and work hours. So that makes it ₹70K. 4. Now that might look like a lot of money for a fresher, but after 96 hours of running around in ICU and spending 4 almost-sleepless nights, I was left with 2 days of comatosed condition on the bed and for the last one day I had, I used to go out, watch a movie, go shopping before the hectic work schedule started again. Obviously, it was sucking life out of me, and I quit these hospitals to work for a central govt. hospital, where the pay was ₹55,000, and allowance on basis of the 6th pay commission. The work was less hectic. 5. I was happier certainly but not content, because I was losing out on years before my post-gratuation. And the govt. certainly puts you on 3 years' work before you qualify for the “service quota” in post-grad entrance. In return, you will have to sign on a bond that after post-grad you will work for the same body. So pretty much your whole life will be spent in that hospital. And they have transfer issues as well. They can transfer you to a different state, which on judging I knew wouldn't work out for me. So yes, I quit my govt job. And stayed home completely, preparing for post-grad entrance. 7. Your frustration peaks up at this time, as you are not earning anything, your savings will get exhausted. You are going to depend on your parents once again. I definitely could not afford to be completely jobless; so I had joined one hospital for 24 hrs per week, which would fetch me around ₹17,000, and it was enough for my personal expenses. Plus, most of us join coaching centers for post-grad entrance preparation , and these coaching classes are very expensive. Comes somewhere between ₹50,000 to even ₹1 lakh. Yes, you will still be depending on parents if you have not spent a few months working. Luckily, my hard work from previous jobs paid for this coaching. Finally during post grad we earn ₹30,000 in first year and with a consecutive hike of ₹5,000 per year. 8. My friends who are doing their post-grad from premier institutes like AIIMS and JIPMER earn much much more, but getting into those institutions is pretty difficult. 9. So, when you ask me if I am happy! Nope. Not at all. My father is getting his cataract surgery, and I cannot physically be there for him, neither I can financially support him. * I am overworked, I am emotionally abused. * I live with a constant fear of getting hurt, as the new trend in India is “beating up doctors” and the govt. doesn't pay a shit about it. * I go to work early morning, whenever I am free I read PDF of my books,I don't have proper lunch timings. I come back home reading or making a PPT, and night life for me is a NIGHT SHIFT. * When I look at my friends on Facebook, most of them, including the then(school) back benchers are earning way better than me, supporting their family. Most of the engineers are abroad, travelling the world, living the best of their life. * I am still a struggler and after post-graduation as well I will be over-worked for next few years, in name of experience. I know most of the doctors start earning well only in their late 30s. And they learn a lot, everyday is practice . I do enjoy that learning part as well, it's just that I practically missed out on my transformation from a teenager to a near 30 woman. I outgrew my passion in books, and when you look into my parents eyes, they are still supporting their daughter who earns practically lesser than her first salary. I am NOT HAPPY and given a chance again growing up, I WOULDN'T CHOOSE THE MEDICAL STREAM AS A CAREER. EDIT : Firstly Thank you all for being amazing listeners while I kept on cribbing about the profession I probably will have to live this life with. second, thanks for the wishes / strength passed onto me by people on this answer of mine. Well I have joined AIIMS, the institute I spoke about earlier. But .. given a chance to plunge back to my childhood, I wouldn't choose medical profession. Thanks for the support here again.

How is product management changing now that there are tools like Aha! and Trello?
I am not sure the tools themselves are changing product management as much as product management is changing the tools like Aha!I am the co-founder and CEO of Aha! Running product and strategy in six software companies left me desperately wanting a tool that was built by product managers for product managers. I tried everything including more general project management tools and was frustrated. I was tired of:Creating strategy in PPT to only have it shelved on an IntranetGathering ideas and feedback via email only to lose itCapturing and prioritizing features with a spreadsheet only to not be able to keep up or easily create a visual roadmapProduct management is now benefiting from modern software tools like Aha! and the popular apps that we integrate with including Jira, TFS, Pivotal Tracker, Rally, and Trello. Here are just a few of the things you can do in Aha!Build strategic modelsCollect user feedback with custom idea portalsDefine features and requirementsCreate mockupsBuild and share beautiful roadmapsIf you are not already an Aha! customer, you may want to sign up for a free 30-day trial or join a live demo to see why more than 200,000 users trust Aha! to set product strategy, create visual roadmaps, and prioritize releases and features.

What is the most “technologically illiterate” thing you’ve ever seen someone do?
A recent incident of my college times. Maybe sometime in November 2010.It was the first day at my C Lab where the Instructor was teaching us our first program (Not Hello world Program though ) . Yes, I did my BE in Computer Science from a reputed college in Bangalore. Talking about our college , we had to score really good (Mostly below 1000 Rank for CSE) in a Common Entrance Test to get into our college. The reason for bragging about my college is to picturize how intellectual the students were. And one such intellectual student was in my Lab as well . Lets call him Rahul.“Rahul - Naam to suna hi hoga”Rahul was really good at things and was always on his toes to shoot answers to the lecturer. But that fine day in our Lab he did something that still makes me laugh my ass out.Lecturer asked us to type in the program in an editor ( Mostly Notepad !!). After few minutes maybe Rahul started calling the instructor telling that he had an compilation error. While instructor was busy helping others he just told Rahul to refer the manual for the code. Rahul bragging himself told that he has been writing that piece of code from years and is very sure about the code. Apparantly he was from Computer Science background and CS was his main subject in 11th and 12th.Few minutes later when the instructor arrived at his desk and showed him that Rahul had typed semicolon “;” instead of colon “:” in one of his line, Rahul had a poker face and tried arguing that he typed colon “:” but the computer was taking it as semicolon “;”. Instructor asked what was wrong and continued to ask if the Shift key of his computer was malfuntioning. Rahul had a hell of a reply with confidence in his voice “Sir, my colon is malfunctioning !!! Not the Shift Key!!! What has shift to do with colon!?. ”Instructor politely replied “U need to use Shift + “;” for colon “:” !!!”Rahul with his embarassed face tried to make a comeback with “ Oh !! Sorry sir!! It has been 3 months that i have coded” Whole class burst out in laughter PS: Rahul is now in one of the Best IT Company that most of us could even dream of.

Does life get better after 23?
I’m going to give a different answer than what most other people have said. Do with this what you will. You see, these questions keep getting asked on Quora, and to me they are used too much as an excuse to trot out the same cliched advice about your 20s or 30s or 40s or whatever decade the questioner asks about. The truth is, your 20s don’t have to be a certain way.Reading about other people’s experiences of their 20s is an interesting exercise in itself, but you should never replace being interested in the experiences of others with expecting the same things out of life as those people. When you invest too much of your self-worth in how you measure up to the experiences of other people, you start to expect too much out of life. You read all the answers on here and you start to think everyone of those things will happen to you during your 20s.Newsflash: they probably won’t.Everyone is unique, and everyone goes through life at their own pace.Yeah, you might have an amazing time after you turn 23, but age is irrelevant. The question “does life get better?” implies too much investment in the future you and not enough attention to the you of today, the you of now.Life gets better when you focus on it right now. Life doesn’t get better when you focus on some arbitrary idea of improvement that comes with ticking off certain goals that society expects you to achieve. The only foolproof method to improving your life is this:Recognize that everything is perfect as it is. You are a living, breathing organism with the capacity to experience this vast universe we call home. That is literally all you need out of life.Treat achievements like a game, Sometimes you might win and get what you want out of your life situation, sometimes you might fail and feel down. But when you play a game, you often forget about the end goal of completing the game because you are enjoying the process of playing the game.Enjoy playing the game of life, and you won’t get bogged down with the notion of making it better. It will already be perfect.Read more about investing too much of your self-worth in society’s idea of achievement here.
