What are some cool Zapier automations to use in an e-commerce startup?
Zapier is awesome - while we were running a retailer, we loved using it to keep our Google Sheets based inventory tracker in sync with our sales channels. We eventually outgrew it though, and needed something more robust. We couldn’t find what we needed, so we set out to build Toolkite - a cloud based automation platform specifically for e-commerce. It’s like Zapier on steroids. One main thing that makes us different is that we don’t just pass information between two apps, we import it and store it in our data warehouse in a universal format. This is really useful when wanting to implement mo...

Is it safe to use zapier?
I’m puzzled to see blanket proclamations that it is safe to use Zapier in some of the other answers here. I don’t see much in the way of evidence or reasoning for why security is supposedly guaranteed. It is clear from the company (“What do I do if my password changes in an App I use in Zapier?”) that you provide Zapier with some important credentials to your various services, which can include login/password, OAuth credentials, and API keys. Some of those authentication/authorization schemes are inherently more secure than others, but in order to actually link external services, they must have certain capabilities.Misuses of each of these credentials is naturally possible if there is a bug in Zapier, a compromise of their operations, or a vulnerability along the way in either underlying service. E.g. a mistaken appearance or identification of a trigger in one service can cause something undesirable in a connected service, or a bug in or compromise of Zapier infrastructure can also lead to problems.I don’t have examples of these issues, but they seem quite obvious based on the underlying architecture and capabilities.Zapier’s Data Privacy page describes some of the ways they protect these credentials and configurations, and is one place to start if you want more details. But it is still pretty generic.

I want to use Zapier to send data into a database with proper search (e.g. not Excel, Google sheets) What is my best option?
We're just now finishing up two implementations of Knack, each with various Zapier-powered integrations. While Knack is a very versatile and useful tool, it has its many challenges and peculiarities. One in particular is its lack of easy integration with Zapier! We'd likely recommend Zoho Creator or a custom LAMP stack database. If you're interested, you can learn more about how Left Hook Digital uses these tools, and builds custom Zapier integrations.

How do people use Microsoft Flow automation compared to Zapier?
Both have their ups and downs. Overall, they’re good products, but before choosing any of them ask yourself what exactly are you hoping to achieve. Cloudpipes is an alternative to the above mentioned services, offering integration and synchronization between legacy and cloud systems, advanced data management, on-prem integration, and custom built integrations. It’s very easy to map down and execute any workflow, once you get the hang out of the visually and user-friendly editor. Give it a try. You might be pleasantly surprised.
