If you earn $100,000 in a year, you do not have to file a tax return. If you earn $60,000, you should consider filing a return.
If you earn $100,000 and have a spouse, it is still a good idea to file a return and include your spouse's tax return. b) Subtract your spouse's tax on your regular income, and any non-spouse deductions on that regular income: $84,500 - $ = $58,250.
c) Add your other tax deductions, including any non-spouse items on your regular income: $58,250 - $ = $27,875.
The result is your AGI.
