if you ever wanted to automate your ecommerce business know what it takes to make it happen i am not talking about platforms like print on demand that can offer automation for personal fashion items or merch but more so for personal products you have either created or crafted for your target market so the first element you need to know is the platform you are hosting your e-commerce for automation i personally recommend starting out with a platform that is built for automation like shopify or woocommerce if you are contemplating where to start or try a website that doesn't have plug-and-play systems ie plugins although it may be cheaper for starting it becomes really difficult to automate the process if you get sales in the future a lot of fulfillment centers already have systems to integrate to the popular websites like woocommerce and shopify that includes fulfillment and shipping speaking of fulfillment that is the next step who is going to be your fulfillment partner you want a fulfillment center that is either located in your country or ideally located both in your country and china why is this this makes it so much easier to deal with refunds returns and salvaging your inventory this fulfillment center will store pack ship products to the end customer as orders come in you want to make sure the fulfillment center can be integrated with your store and linked with your products and stocks here's how it works customers place an order on your front-end website shopify or woocommerce the stock will be removed from the shelf and shipped to the address stated in the order updates about the shipping will be automatically published to the customer directly so picking the right fulfillment center is very important and their ability to connect to online systems is key so essentially once you have a solid front-end website and a fulfillment partner you are almost there to complete the puzzle before going on to that last piece consider subscribing if you like content about sourcing from china to optimize your ecommerce business to maximize your profits and minimize your cost so the last piece is to nearly automate the procurement portion this part may take you the most amount of time since it involves product and market research and getting the right suppliers to be able to sustain your orders as they come in if you are lucky enough you may have the fulfillment center help with this step which i actually recommend because they'll have a fulfillment center both in china and your country i also recommend to solidify your suppliers to create a process to automate your procurement here's an example of what i mean let's say you sell a package for shaving which includes a shaving machine maybe some oil brushes and some guards and of course you can't forget about the packaging and the user manual that will go with it these come from let's say three different suppliers the machine the accessories and the boxing ideally you may be able to work with the boxing and packaging company to receive the goods and package them for you so that they are ready to be sold and added to the inventory of the fulfillment center you may be able to get a contract with a boxing company to help you procure all the products and put them together so the model would be is that you pay the packaging company everything for the order the packaging company will procure the goods and package the goods and then ship it to the fulfillment center to do it even cheaper you would have to send the money directly to each different supplier and you can do this by sending monthly payments based on your monthly market forecast for your business so let's say you sell a thousand each month so you want to maintain at least 1 100 in stock each month you would have to pay 1 100 items worth each month on a specific date that you select and it's best to put this in a contract so it is semi-automated or if you want to pay a little bit more just pay one central agency to procure the items for you but it will be more expensive so to recap to truly fully automate your ecommerce business you need a solid front-end website connected to a suitable fulfillment center and you need a semi-automated procurement process with all of these you can nearly automate your business as you scale but what if you don't know where to start and what kind of product you want to sell check out this video about picking a profitable product niche for your ecommerce idea you
