first question is guaranteed to be tell me about yourself now this question is asked because they want to find out as much as possible about you and why you are suitable for the hr business partner role now in your answer cover the following three things talk about the skills and qualities you have give them an example of a difficult hr related project you were a part of and finally tell them how you are going to add value to their company in the role of hr business partner so here is my suggested answer to help you tell me about yourself i am a highly professional and passionate person who always works to very high standards coupled with a proactive nature and strong interpersonal skills i can be relied upon to meet the demands of the hr business partner role whilst aligning my work to the strategic aims of your organization in previous roles i built up a reputation for being somebody who would manage organize and complete lots of different hr related tasks to the necessary standards and on time for example i helped to transform the company recruitment process to ensure it was fair it was transparent and that we were recruiting the right people with the right set of skills needed to undertake the jobs required i have exceptional attention to detail skills i will work alongside you not against you and i assure you i will utilize strong leadership skills whilst recruiting and retaining the right people who can help to take your organization forward that is a very strong answer and it sets you up with confidence for the remainder of your hr business partner of human resources business partner interview questions and top scoring answers including the ones we are working through together today the next question why do you want to work for us now this hr business partner interview question he's commonly asked because the organization wants to know you intend staying there for a long period of time and as you and i know stability is very important in hr here is my suggested answer to help you within the role of hr business partner it is imperative you are given a clear brief you have the resources to do your job properly and above all you are fully supported by the senior management team now when i first saw this job advertised i started researching your company in detail to make sure it was a place i would be able to carry out my duties fully and to the right standards your company values your mission statement and your track record for consistent impressive achievement gave me the confidence this is somewhere i will be able to work at for a long period of time alongside like-minded professionals who are all totally focused on achieving the organization's aims and objectives so that's another strong answer that shows that you intend to stay working there for a long period of time now don't go anywhere because i still have many more questions to work through with you but when you're ready if you want to click that link in the top right hand corner of the video it takes you through to my website pastmyinterview.com where you can download my full set of 21 hr business partner interview questions and top scoring answers including the ones we are working through together today but here's the next question what will you do within the first six months of starting in the role of hr business partner now this interview question is subtly assessing your organizational and planning capabilities do not say you will wait until you start in the role to put a plan in place make sure you have one already laid out so here's my suggested answer to this question what will you do within the first six months of starting in the role of hr business partner here we go by the time six months have passed i would be fully up and running in the role and already have contributed significantly to the organization through the completion of hr related tasks and projects within the first few weeks of commencing work i would obtain a thorough brief from you the senior management team on what you need me to focus on and where the organization needs to be both medium and long term i would then familiarize myself with organizational policies and procedures to make sure i can maintain high standards in my work next i would get to know my team well and the people whom i will be working alongside whilst also getting to grips with some of the major challenges the organization has and its objectives at the same time i will start working on my plan of action that would ensure the initial objectives that you set for me will be met on time and to the right standard so that shows you already have a plan in place and that's really important before you go to your hr business partner interview make sure you have a plan in place of what you are going to do within the first six months of starting the next question what experience do you have working in a fast-paced environment now human resources is an ever-changing environment that requires an ability to complete lots of tasks concurrently and this interview question is assessing your ability to do just that so here's a model answer to assist you in my previous role i always needed to work at a fast pace in many different areas and to give you some examples i recently finished a human resources project that required an overhaul of the organization's hr software applications due to the fact the old software was outdated and it was no longer fit for purpose i volunteered to undertake this project alongside my normal day-to-day duties and responsibilities at the same time i agreed for a junior member of the hr team to shadow me so they could learn the role of a hr business partner and what was involved now this was particularly time consuming because i only had five days to show them as much as possible whilst explaining the decisions i made along the way and it was important for me to show them how crucial it was to complete all hr tasks to a high standard finally at the end of each day during this particularly busy period i would catch up on regular emails and i wouldn't go home until they were all actioned and responded to so i could start the next working day with a clean slate so that shows that you are prepared to take on lots of different tasks and you will get them all completed to which is very important a high standard the next question what would you find most challenging about the hr business partner role now this is a difficult question to answer because we do not want to come across as negative in any way so we don't want to say i would find it quite challenging deal with dealing with all the different projects or dealing with loads of different people it would be quite time consuming that's a negative answer we don't want to give anything like that now there is a clever way to answer this question and here it is so just to reaffirm the question what would you find most challenging about the hr business partner role i believe the most challenging aspect and at the same time the most rewarding is keeping up to date with changing employment law and legal compliance requirements the challenge comes with changing company policies and procedures communicating these two employees and making sure everyone within the organization adheres to the relevant policies and regulations as i said this is also the area i would probably find the most rewarding because you cannot afford to relax in this role and you have to make sure you keep your own competence up to date in order to stay on top of everything within your remit that is a clever way to answer that question because you are giving something which is naturally going to be challenging you know the ever-changing policies and procedures that come into place but you are also stating that this will probably be the roast the most rewarding so it's not an issue for you so that's a good answer so the next thing to do is please do click that link in the top right hand corner of the video go through to my website pastmyinterview.com and take a look at my 21 hr business partner interview questions and top scoring answers which you can download including the ones we have covered today during our time together going through this presentation thank you very much for watching don't forget to
