takes just a few seconds you will need administrative access to set this up if you do not have this access please consult with somebody in your company that does have administrative access in mother things in mind set the number of days representing your thresholds for each of your selling stages by entering the appropriate number of days in each of these fields and then click Save in the lower right from here return to your leads and opportunities list if this is the very first time that you're using the days and selling stage function and leads an opportunities card view or leads an opportunities list view simply turn it on by clicking the actions drop-down and then click show overdue stages and you should see color changes immediately cards that have gone from white to red additionally if you go to the list view in leads and opportunities you should see activity here as well so it is set up to work in both leads and opportunities views in subsequently if for any reason you would like to turn this view off at any time in either ListView or card view you can do so by once again clicking the actions drop-down and clicking hide overdue stages and you'll see that the red coloring is removed whether it's ListView or card view to turn it back on click actions once again and click show overdue stages so with this function turned on will begin to see cards and card view and line items in ListView turn red if they've exceeded the thresholds that you previously set for example with this particular opportunity we can see that it's remained in the discovery analysis phase for 10 days it's exceeded the threshold therefore it's turned red it brings attention to it with the red color so as a sales rep or Sales Manager I now have the ability to go in I can open up this record and I can work it as always within mother node and contact contacts reach out determine what needs to be done and focus on it heavily strategize with my sales manager to ensure that we move it forward it brings attention to it and now we're giving it the necessary attention it needs to move it through our sales funnel so when we get to a point where we're ready to promote it to the next selling stage it's simply a matter as always of clicking and dragging and dropping the opportunity card into the next column or into the appropriate column that represents a promotion to the next selling stage if I'm promoting it from discovery analysis into the demonstration phase or all the way to quotes or proposals stage I simply click and drag and drop into the appropriate selling stage column and you'll see the card literally turn white it resets the number of days the day counter on the card will reset so you won't see anything initially but by the next day you'll see one day in stage and then two days and then three days and so forth so it naturally resets and is ready for you to work within the next selling stage now it's a similar experience in ListView if we go over to ListView we'll see some of the line items some of the opportunities in pink meaning that these have exceeded the threshold as well we'll use this one as an example just by hovering over the selling stage bar I can see the number of days in stage that this opportunity has been in I can always promote the opportunity to the next selling stage just by clicking on the selling stage bar as always and I can promote it this way once I do that then click Save we'll see that the selling stage has changed and when i refresh the screen for this particular opportunity we can see that just like with the card in card view it resets to white and we can see the days and stage counter resetting to zero now additionally I could have opened up the record for this opportunity and gone in and worked with the contact added notes set up follow-up events set of calendar events made additional notes and so forth and then when I'm ready to promote this opportunity to the next selling stage I can do so by once again hovering over the selling stage bar within the record and then clicking it to promote it to the next selling stage and clicking save and we can see it promoting to selling stage four in this case it's also important to note that the days and selling stage function allows you to pause or flag an opportunity that has exceeded its threshold in terms of number of days and stage so that you can make it stand out and send the message to yourself team members sales manager that there is a special circumstance behind this particular opportunity that has exceeded its threshold perhaps it's something that you and your sales manager has already reviewed or it's something that's being worked on within your team between you and other team members but everyone knows that it is currently in progress the way to modify it and place it into a pause mode is simply to open up the opportunity in edit mode click the actions drop-down click pause selling stage and you can now see that the opportunity is shaded engraved so now it's telling us that there is a special circumstance involved and whatever has caused it to exceed its threshold is currently being addressed conversely to take it out of selling stage pause mode I simply go back in and edit the record again click the actions drop-down and click the option for resume or play selling stage and now we can see that the opportunity card in this case has returned to the red color the function works the same way in list view you'll see gray line items that are in a pause mode and you can use the same edit process to place it on a pause and remove it from a pause and with the existing functions in leads and opportunities like Advanced Search and custom reports you always have the ability to perform searches and create reports that include selling stage data and you can filter on selling stage related data including the last date the last time that the selling stage was changed so it can give you some very insightful reports as a result for example if I go to actions and save custom reports I'll access a sample custom report and first show you the report in edit mode so it could be a report that includes primary information for the lead including a lead number prospect name reference status selling stage selling stage changed date an opportunity value and you can also add criteria that includes selling stage related information in this case I'd like to report on all leads and opportunities created over the last four months in which the selling stage equals proposal or stage number four and within the report it's going to show me the leads with that selling stage it will confirm the name of the selling stage but also show me the last date that the selling stage was changed so this could be very insightful information as well if I run the report I can see the information the lead related information nicely laid out and then I can see specifically regarding selling stage that these leads are indeed within selling stage four and then to provide further information I can see that the selling stage changed eight the last selling stage change date is listed here so this
