hi my name is donna gibson and i work for microsoft i am the manager for the operations daily managers who look after western europe what does that mean i hardly know myself it's re my team look after all of the huge deals that are coming into microsoft they work with customers and our sales teams to make sure that all the paperwork is right and in order so that when the deals land with us they flow through all of our systems so basically they're working to make sure everything can get booked and we get the revenue happy days um and then if there are issues when the the deals do land with us what my team does is try and unblock those figure out what's going wrong and then get them back on track so we can get the revenue in um i really love my role i look after a team of eight people um and my average day is kind of meetings but a lot of meetings back-to-back meetings and catching up with um senior people who work in the sales side of things if there are things going wrong or where we need to help working with my team to help them and coach them and get them to unblock whatever is getting in their way um what i love about my job is helping the team um pulling people together figuring out what big the big issues are and basically it's all about having a conversation like where do we go from here what can we do next um and getting through that and it's also what i love is coaching people and helping people um what i don't like about my job yeah sometimes you work late in the evening that can be a bit of a pain when you're working with people in america but okay hope it doesn't happen that often um i want to think about how did i get here and um people say oh girls in stem i was like stem a what does stem mean and i'm reading from it here it's science tech engineering and maths i did none of those things none of them and in fact i kind of think i'm not that good at any of those things yet here i am working for microsoft and i've worked with them for many years my background is in communications and in marketing that's kind of what i studied um and i did that for a few years and thought oh don't really like this moved into microsoft marketing and then there was an opportunity in the operations side of the business which is where i am now i moved over there what about six years ago i absolutely love it microsoft a great company to work for i really i enjoy my job most days like some days you'll get crap days but most days are good um and that's me bye
