hello and welcome everyone I'm nib Acharya for Oracle and here to talk about knowledge and specifically Oracle knowledge and the use of Oracle knowledge and complex technology environments one of the things that we've noticed is that many organizations that have been successful with Oracle knowledge have actually deployed it in areas well beyond the traditional customer service and support it extends into mergers and acquisitions and various other aspects of the company and joining me today to discuss some of those successes is Peter shoemaker of info game yeah thnkx Nitin we had a very interesting implementation of Oracle knowledge recently the thing that made it interesting is this was an organization that had had multiple acquisitions and so very separate product groups that had operated of course separately and they wanted to make them all work like one company they also wanted to be able to integrate multiple components together so what I mean by that is integrating their CRM system with knowledge management integrating SI p on the back end with knowledge management implementing a next-generation portal with knowledge management so that was critical the other thing as they found that their knowledge was very siloed and they knew the people were reinventing the wheel writing content because I didn't know it existed because they couldn't find it and then they realized later that already existed so huge waste of time and effort so besides all of that what are the other benefits that they've seen yes so when they implemented Oracle knowledge across the different product divisions they also were in the process of upgrading Siebel to the latest release and at the same time they were creating a next-generation portal to sew together all these various product divisions so the integration was critical we integrate as I said Oracle knowledge with SI p Oracle knowledge with Siebel and with the portals people no matter where they work get the information sort of in the environment they were already in and the other thing that Oracle knowledge provided was because of its strong plant ability the ability to avoid the reinventing the wheel or creating content that already existed so in that world basically Oracle knowledge goes well
