video background

How to create outlook signature

okay so this video about trees and maze checkers D looks about done thank goodness we've got it done in time already to post why would all the EU countries reject mais plan just as we're about to release a video on the checkers plan do they want to make our video pointless what do these people want from me so yeah things didn't go smoothly for Tereza May at the recent EU summit she was attempting to persuade her fellow EU leaders to accept her proposed brexit plan the so called checkers deal and well it didn't go down well last week we released a video about what Mays plan was her ideal brexit proposal however before we even got around to posting the video it appeared that the plan was dead in the water the EU leaders pretty resounding ly rejected it last week if they don't like trees a mais plan and they really don't like trees and mais plan what are you looking for out of a brexit deal what kind of deal is the EU likely to accept discussing what the EU wants isn't as simple as it might sound the EU is made up of 28 nations or 27 once the UK leaves the UK has different economic and diplomatic relationships with all 27 nations and as such they all want different things from a deal with the UK for example Germany is keen for the EU to strike a trade deal with the UK to keep trade alive between the two nations however they're also insistent that the UK remains accountable to the European Court of Justice Theresa May says that she wants the UK to stop being beholden to the ECJ but the German government say that if the UK isn't subject to the EC jace ruling then they wouldn't support a trade deal other countries have very different policies Central and Eastern European states such as the Czech Republic Hungary Poland and Slovakia will likely be less concerned by trade deals between the EU and UK their focus is about maintaining the UK support when it comes to security and foreign policy many nations in this area are becoming more and more concerned about the threat posed by Russia and they want to see the continuation of a strong united Europe they will also want to protect the rights of their citizens many of whom live in the UK these countries represent about half of the EU citizens in the UK so they want to continue the open borders and freedom movement which they currently enjoy with the UK the point is that there isn't total agreement between all EU nations as to what the perfect brexit deal looks like but there are some things all EU nations agree on and one of those is that Britain can't be seen to get a better deal than they already had as an EU member as we discuss in the video on trees amazed checkers deal a lot of EU countries criticize the UK for attempting to have their cake and eat it if the UK is able to secure a deal which works out better for them than EU membership then the EU would be in danger of collapse the EU needs to show other members that when countries choose to leave it it doesn't work out well for them this might sound like exactly the kind of selfishness and bullying that brexit ears hate but it's an understandable tactic brakes it puts the EU in danger sure it might not collapse immediately as a result of brexit but it does put them on thin ice they need to defend the Union and make an example of the UK if the EU has a chance of surviving in the long term just a quick aside we're thinking of making one big video about what every nation in the EU wants out of the BRICS it deals we take about a minute to discuss what each EU nation is interested in and what their priorities are if that's something you'd like to watch give this video a like and comment down below despite the differing opinions of individual nations it's still possible to discern what the EU wants from a brexit deal back in January the eu-27 that's the EU - the UK received a set of documents from the European Commission which discussed how the European Commission wanted to see the EU UK relationship progress post brexit these documents actually tell you quite a lot about how the EU wants to see things move forward the Germans aren't the only EU nation concerned with ensuring that there's a body to deal with disputes between the UK and EU it's generally accepted that there needs to be a mechanism in place to deal with conflicts and ensure that rules are upheld in Tereza Mays checkers plan she states that the UK won't be subject to any rulings of the European Court of Justice instead following the decisions of a joint committee the committee they proposed is made up of British and European officials who can mediate disagreements the EU does support this idea but it says that if the joint committee is unable settle the dispute it should fall under the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice this is in some ways a compromise the UK gets the Joint Committee at once and the EU has the ECJ as a backstop however if this isn't acceptable to the UK the European Commission have suggested but they could look to replicate the deal the EU has with Ukraine in this system Ukraine can ask the European Court for advice but the court has no power to affect the laws in Ukraine instead the EC jay's power lies with the fact that they're able to suspend elements of the deal which exists between the EU and Ukraine fishing is an important topic for a lot of people regarding brexit and it's clearly something the EU has on their mind too the fishing industry is worth an excess of six hundred and twenty five million pounds a year so it's definitely worth discussing the EU wants to create a new bespoke fishing partnership with the UK which is based on existing fishing patterns in all likelihood this means that the EU wants to keep the new plan fairly in line with the existing common fisheries agreement which the UK has operated under while in the EU UK airlines are currently able to fly passengers from UK to EU airports as well as being able to fly customers between other EU destinations this is because the UK is part of the European Aviation Safety Agency the EU says that the UK will no longer be able to be part of the EAS a after leaving the EU suggesting the UK might be able to strike a similar deal to the one that the EU holds with the USA this allows American Airlines to fly to EU destinations but not between EU airports a deal like this could make things difficult for major UK airlines who rely on into EU travel as a major part of their business model like the German government the European Commission want to ensure that a level playing field is protected between the UK and EU the concern is that the UK will undercut the EU by slashing taxes or reducing environmental or labour standards to cut costs without a deal the EU would have very little power to stop the UK from undercutting them the EU could threaten the UK with Terrace or putting them on it's tax haven blacklist but there's little the EU could actually do to stop the UK from becoming a tax haven because of this the EU wants to ensure that the principle of having a level playing field is enshrined in the deal which is created the UK has made it clear that they're interested in working with the EU on matters relating to security it's important to remember that even once a UK leaves the European Union it's still a European nation which means it's fundamentally affected and linked to other European countries therefore it's important the UK that their European allies do well otherwise there could be consequences for the UK's own economy and security the EU is happy to include the UK and issues of European security and is even discussing an agreement which will allow you classified intelligence to be shared with the UK it's also important for the UK and EU that they formulate a replacement to the European Arrest Warrant this Agreement makes it easy for countries to extradite criminals effectively without it they'd have to revert to a much less effective 1950s extradition convention after the recent EU summit in Salzburg treasom a struck out at the EU they're just resoundingly rejected her checkers deal and she was clearly frustrated with the lack of progress being made she said yesterday Donald Tusk said that our proposals would undermine the single market he didn't explain how in detail or make any counter proposal so we're at an impasse she went on to ask the EU to reveal what their alternative is Donald Tusk retorted saying that Mays claims were untrue and that the EU had explained their position to UK negotiators in recent weeks it said the EU officials are currently working on a counter proposal which is set to be released in October this should give us the clearest indication of what the EU are looking for out of brexit and we'll be making a video about that once their proposal is released regardless of the actual deal which is settled upon the EU have made it clear that even in the best-case scenario there'll be significant disruption for European citizens businesses and administrations EU officials have also commented that it's important to think about what would happen if no deal is reached officials a remark that there's currently no clear backstop if a deal isn't reached this means that if no deal is agreed the UK would leave the EU without any agreements at all this could be an issue for UK EU trade as well as causing potentially major issues on the Northern Ireland Ireland border because of these possible issues the EU says thinking about No Deal is important a BBC report on the topic commented that it's an example of preparing for the worst and hoping for the best the EU do seem optimistic that a deal could be reached chief negotiator Michel Barnier said back in June that after 12 months of negotiations we have agreed on 80 percent of the negotiations Bonnier went on to say that he was looking forward to constructive discussions with the UK after they published their white paper on brexit he hoped that the UK white paper would help them come to some sort of agreement for the final 20% the problem is that the white paper he was referring to ended up being the checkers deal a deal which the EU completely rejected unfortunately the UK government's white paper didn't end the negotiations in the way that Barney a had hoped instead it seems that the two are unable to agree on the last 20 percent the final hurdle blocking a deal from being formed despite the failure of the checkers deal many Brits believe that the UK will do just fine out of the negotiations this belief is rooted in the attitude that the EU requires the UK to survive an outlook which is often summed up in the saying they need us more than we need them therefore some aren't that concern to strike a deal at any costs they believe that the EU stances we've discussed in this video will soften over time and when it gets down to it the EU will cave as they rely so strongly on the UK that's something we'll be diving deeper into in our next brexit explained video which will be released in October so stay up to date with our videos and be notified when that video comes out
