hello and welcome to the smart marketers landing page conversion course I am Molly Gardner from Unbounce and I'll be your guide and host as we learn everything you need to know to get better results from your marketing by using landing pages in my overly dramatic ending to the last part of the course I mentioned that our travel company pura vida' was going to make a change in their marketing strategy they found that they were getting a lot of people clicking through from the landing page but they were dropping off before they completed the vacation registration process this sounds like a classic situation of having unqualified visitors a good way to remedy this is to provide more detailed information upfront so that the people who do continue down your funnel our better informed and are more likely to become a customer in this case the company decided on a new strategy involving two elements one they would offer a free downloadable brochure containing everything a prospect would need to make an informed decision and two in exchange for this they would capture a phone number so they could have a one-on-one conversation to help close the sale this is a great example of what lead generation is your prospect needs something from you in this case it's more information a downloadable brochure and you need information from them in order to continue to market to them or in this case to call them right away and facilitate moving them through your sales funnel putting a form on your landing page is super simple a time balance this is the area what we want we want to put the form on the right here so we need to shift that content the bullet points over to the left hand side for the sake of simplicity I'm just going to shorten some of the content so we can we can go ahead and move it over so we can just grab these bullet points move them over fix some of the alignment so it stays with our design and now we have this empty space where we can put our legion form so we'll start with a simple form we'll just put the first name in there just to get it on the page and now we can customize our form to get have all information collected that we need these guys need a phone number so let's put a phone number in there and an email for other communication and we can just reorder these however we like and make them required fields have them validated as a real email address or a phone number ing to North American standards UK Australia and there is our form ready to be styled styling the form has a whole bunch of different properties that we can set colors sizes spacing so I'm just going to go ahead and quickly run through all these so you can see how the form can be customized to fit your design like I said changing the size color different fonts the background color fields spacing and whether you want your labels to be on the top or the left hand side there is a color picker to choose your colors for most things on the page or you can enter the hex values if you have them from a design and I'm going to ask you to make me a promise here that you will never leave a button that says submit like this it's really really important that you make your CTA read something very actionable and describe exactly all happen when you click it in this case download a free brochure it lets people know what to expect when they're gonna click the button and know they're not gonna be walking through a whole bunch of steps that they didn't ask for it's important to give some context to your form and explain why someone should be filling it out so you can see here we've got a title and then we're adding a description of what they're gonna do what they're gonna get for their information and there is our lovely lead capture form now that we've switched from being a click through lining page to being a lead gen landing page the goal of our page a conversion goal is different so we can go ahead and remove the old buttons and we'll take the one out from the bottom as well you can set the conversion goal for your page here it's going to be a form submission so that whenever someone completes your form the data will track a conversion if anyone fills in a form and clicks that button in advance they will be stored within the system you can [Music] you can view them or download a CSV of them if you wanna import to excel you can have an email update whenever you get a new lead or more importantly you can send them all to a third party like MailChimp campaign monitor Aweber Constant Contact Soho hotspur or even Salesforce so all of your leads get imported into other systems that you're using and that is why and how you capture leads for your business next up in the line of each course is copyright and for conversion this is one of the most important aspects of landing page design and implementation so make sure you're here next time and I'll see you then you
