so in my current role I work as a project manager for ERT ERT provides technology for pharmaceutical companies running clinical trials and also for healthcare providers this could be in many forms but for example a lot of the projects that I've worked on have been producing a mobile phone application which is used by patients this is unable to send real-time data to doctors so that they can monitor patients progress and also recording information for use on the trial this will also integrate with technology such as fitbit's or medical devices like glucose meters or inhalers when I graduated my first job was as a project assistant and for another company which provides technology for clinical trials this role really gave me a great chance to learn about the pharmaceutical industry which was completely new to me and also technology industries and learn about project management as well what the skills required for that and also get some experience in managing projects and supporting project managers which eventually led to my Tyrol so a lot of people will ask me how an animal science degree is actually related to my current role as a project manager first of all an animal science degree is a science related degree which is very relevant to working within a science industry which is what I'm doing now however I think throughout university it's the skills that I developed them which were particularly relevant to my current role so for example organizational skills on a daily basis I'm working on multiple projects which similar to being at university and working with different subjects and having and lots of coursework deadlines I'm required to prioritize my workload and meet lots of deadlines so it's really important that I apply those organizations so we didn't say that when I chose my current career path that I specifically was looking to move away from working with animals or animal science specifically I think for me what happened was that I realized that there are many different careers related to science and the skills that I've been using throughout university and that there were many more opportunities I'd advise current students to look at all of the different opportunities that are out there and and see the different careers that they might never have even considered before part of this can come from speaking to people so make use of contacts that you have it could just be a family friends of your your parents or or somebody that you just meet just make use of their finding out what people are doing and how that could apply to what you're doing currently [Music] you
