the single biggest reason people don't make it in financial services is because they put the short-term monetary goal in front of the long-term service goal of the business so if you're going to get into financial services you need to figure out what your why is you figure out what your why is you're going to be able to build a massive financial services business [Music] when i speak to people about getting into financial services one of the things i talk about more than anything else is what their definitive purpose is why do you want to get into financial services because there's a lot of stuff going on aside from the money you have to figure out what it is that's going to drive you because it's not an easy business to get into and stay in so for me it's all about the why it's all about the burn and what's driving you to do this when i first started in financial services back in 1994 i didn't really know why i was getting into financial services people just said hey frank you should go into financial services because you're good at sales so i did what they all thought i was i was going to be good at as i learned and became a financial advisor got my licenses worked with clients and i loved talking to clients i loved meeting with clients i loved helping those clients as i became more successful as a financial advisor as a young financial advisor and matured as an individual i started to realize that helping clients with their investments wasn't rewarding enough for me so at that point i decided i wanted to get into the management side of it and really help financial advisors grow and build their businesses so that they can help more clients my theory was as an individual producer i can only help a certain subset of clients but if i can help 20 or 30 or 40 individual financial advisors help their 100 clients then i can make a greater impact and when i started doing that i found a lot more reward with what i did on a daily basis it drove me it got me excited i woke up every day with a new passion who can i help today and who can i help help their clients today after 10 years doing that i started my own company in 2011 called the lead consulting partners where i brought that same passion to help a financial advisor into the consulting and recruiting business every day i get up and i go out and help my financial advisor clients that are looking to build a better business they're looking to find a better opportunity they're looking for a better firm to help their clients so it's the same drive and ambition and my why still stays the same and that is to help financial advisors help their clients so if you take my advice and you want to get into financial services which is an unbelievable business and it's absolutely rewarding you need to make sure you don't look at the money first the money will follow if you're successful and you're driven and you and you connect with your why the money will follow so you need to figure that out and no one can tell you what your why is you have to figure that out yourself so if you like what you heard today and you think this can help somebody else don't forget to share and like my video subscribe to my youtube channel because we have more great content on what it means to be in financial services and really what it means to be a business owner within financial services don't forget to leave comments about what drives you and what's your why i can't wait to hear
