depends on the process of your organization you might start with a lead or you might start directly with a contact now a lead is someone who you've talked to on the plane a network at a conference got information from a seminar that you did or something and you know that he or she might become an actual contact might become an actual opportunity that you want to pursue so if it's a lead that you have that you've gotten some point in time and now you want to qualify this lead to make him or her into a contact attached to an opportunity you go to the actual person in this case deborah garcia and up top right here is where you can click on qualify late you can also start right here where it says qualify and uh do some digging first before you do that so is deborah garcia already a contact let's take a look deborah nope no records found okay what about company worldwide importers is that already here somewhere worldwide no it's not there either okay so instead of clicking on next stage i'm just going to click out here click on qualify now check this out it did find something in account that might be the same worldwide importers yeah that is the same let me go ahead and click on it and say continue with this account okay lead was successfully qualified and it did attach deborah garcia with worldwide importers which i could not find initially but it system found it attached it to it that's exactly how it should be also notice that now i'm in the opportunities screen so it has created an opportunity with this account and this contact another way to qualify leads is you can do it in multiple batches as well so i can go to lead screen these are my open leads and i know for a fact that i need to qualify these two people i can select them and click on qualify and they have been qualified now so that's how you can do batch qualification
