hi everyone Steve Brown from swansey business marketing again um in this video I just want to talk about um local business sales funnels you know what do I mean by a local business sales funnel uh and how should a local business uh set up their online marketing so that they get the maximum amount of profit they can out of their different marketing channels so again let me just um share AIT present ation with you and we'll go through it step by step so I'm just going to share my screen with you and here we are um we have a look at this presentation uh first thing i' ask yourself is what's your objective when someone lands on your website because I think this is the very first step where a local a lot of local business owners really get it wrong and really don't understand what websites are about and how they work you know they got this impression that you know we build a website we put it up there and that's going to get me online business well surely that's no different than you opening up a new shop and expecting people to just come walk in and start buying off you straight away when they don't even they don't even know you so let's just have a look at this a sec um do you think it's you know that they're there you know when they get there do you think you it's all about your main objective is to sell your goods or your services and you've got a major problem there because what if the only reason they landed on your website was they were only browsing so somebody's land on your website they're only browsing what are you going to do now you know do you really think that with so many different marketing channels so many different places that these people can go to you know Facebook Pinterest YouTube Twitter uh their mobile phones the iPads TV radio do you really think that when someone's landed on your website and they were just going to have a quick look around and then they disappear do you really think they're coming back you know as I mentioned we've got so many distractions so many other marketing channels do you do you actually think they're going to find you again even if they could remember what your website was and my first question to you would be why should they buy off you anyway what makes you so special what makes you so different from the masses and masses of choice that they've got out there these days and I want you to think about this do you buy off people you don't know like or trust and I'll even include I want you to think about this because you might say well people do online buying you know they'll go to places like Amazon but yes they know like can trust Amazon because Amazon is such a big brand people are talking about Amazon people have B you know already purchased off Amazon so when somebody comes to do their first purchase of Amazon that no l and trust is already been built up by their friends by their family who've already had a positive experience so you can't even hide behind the fact that oh yeah but other people are stand online no they stand online because they built up the no like and Trust Factor so what makes you think that someone is going to do a Google Search and decide their and then that you are the best and if they're just browsing how do you make sure they get to know like and trust you so you know I want to think about this before online marketing before all of this talk technology was available you would have talked to them they may have um called into your premises but I was in now anybody that's owned um a shop selling Goods you get consumers and potential customers coming in and they're browsing they're having a look around and if you good at your job if if you're a good shopkeeper you would have talked to them to show them that you were approachable you were a nice prep business you were expert of what you did you were trustworthy Etc you'd have built up all those factors and they may have come back and browsed a few times before they were ready to buy and I emphasize that not be ready to be sold to they were ready to buy and online marketing makes this whole process so much easier and automated guys because what you do is the first thing you do when somebody lands on your website the first thing you should be considering is a free giveaway then after you giv them something you make regular contact and at some point or rather they will want to buy something so let's just go through those three steps again free giveaway what do I mean go and have a look at any good quality website and you will find there's a free giveaway and the free giveaway is usually in the form of a free ebook it can be a free guide it can be a free video series of useful tips and and let's not be dramatic this applies to anything it could be um a company provides Garden Fen and and Timber Products and you can land on their website you'll find that they'll give you seven ways of making your garden fencing lasts longer and it'll be just a simple ebook providing useful tips on how to preserve the garden posts and how to make sure that they're using the right products on the fencing and how often just a useful tip book or it could be somebody simply providing uh video tips I mean guys you're watching a video now yeah that's just providing you with useful information and you will decide whether you know like can trust me and we build up this business relationship uh but they simple videos yeah so you give a free giveaway and what's the giveaway for the giveaway is for uh it's an exchange where you just say the person give them your name and email address and you can have access to this free ebook this free video this free guide so now you have a means of communicating with them and then through this email you can then uh maintain regular contact and you would then send out regular emails providing useful information and during the provision of this useful information you keep referencing the your goods and services so again let's go back to that um Garden fening company you could then be sending out useful information about it's coming towards the uh winter so now is a good time to put it you know to uh give your Fen a good coaching ready to protect it from the the battering it's going to take in the winter now is the time to go out there and check another email could be now is time to go out and check that all your fening is secure so it doesn't get damaged in the high winds that you get during the winter when it's coming to Spring they could be getting an email saying Now's the Time to consider what color do you want to do your fening this share and give it a new good coat Etc all these useful tips yes and the fact that they bought you know they're interested in Garden fencing usually means they're interested in gardening so you could be just giving them useful gardening tips but basically you're providing emails with relevant useful information that's building up this no like and Trust factor it's not that hard because over time after you built this no like interest trust factor and you keep providing great quality relevant information something magical happens they buy they haven't been sold to they buy off you because they now know that you care and that you care about what you're doing in business and more importantly you care about them that's why you've stayed in this regular contact you know and we're local business people our job is to provide fantastic Goods or a great service so so how do we keep this all manageable well when it comes to your website we're talking about capturing names and email addresses so that you can Market your goods and services to your visitors who are not yet paying customers and when it comes to social to your social media channels you're doing the same again but in this case you're just talking about getting people to click like and again because they click like they will see your regular post and your updates that you put on your social media channels and the best thing for us as local business owners is that most of this can be set up to be semi-automated so that you focus on your real job and as we've said time and time again your real job is to go out there and provide that great service or those great products online marketing really isn't difficult as long as you have a strategic plan and that includes setting up your sales funnel to achieve what you want to achieve which is to build up this relationship with people so that when they're ready to buy they buy from you so guys I really hope that this is just beginning to um open up your minds to what you should be doing out there with with this online stuff you know we've talked in other videos about setting up your online marketing channels where we talking about setting up Facebook channels and Pinterest channels and YouTube channels and how it's all about driving traffic to your website but the purpose of getting to your website yes there'll be occasions where you know you might be a local Plummer and somebody looking for a plumber an emergency so yes they land on your website the first thing they want is your telephone number and they're going to ring you up for a quick quote to come and do an emergency job for them but in the main what you're trying to do is build business relationships with these people with these visitors and the way to do that is by capturing their names and email addresses so that you can continue to Market to them on a regular basis so at some point in the future when these people are ready to buy they automatically think of you and they've already got all your contact details there because you've been in regular contact with them whether it's through your Facebook channels through your website through emails Etc it's all about building up these marketing funnels these sales funnels and probably the best way that you can see this in action is I'm going to ask you put your name and email if you haven't done done it already put your name and email address in the uh box below so that you can see how I mark it to you and duplicate what I do see you know what techniques am I using what am I saying in these emails how am I communicating with you to drive you down my sales funnel so that some point in the future I may ask you to buy one of my products or one of my services you know you may
