what's going on friends today i want to share some tips with you on how you can get started with social media content even if you have no idea what you're doing [Music] all right so i think everyone pretty much listening or watching has uh put out some social media content if you're like most people i know including myself at times you're not as consistent as you know you can be right and maybe your business is uh has it has existed and succeeded so far on word of mouth but you know that you really want to take it to that next level and that's going to take a different level of intention and action so i'm going to share some tips with you on how you can do that and i want to illustrate that by way of a story of a uh an interaction engagement that i had last week and talked to this uh owner of a painting company out in arizona and they built up an amazing ride they do really nice work they've got they do residential they do commercial their their projects are are higher end so like when they're posting pictures on instagram it's like it's like baller houses that are gonna stand out in your feed right and they built up this really good business uh on word of mouth referrals you know some instagram some people finding them mentioning them in facebook groups and things like that and they want to grow to that next level they've got a bunch of employees they want to make sure that they have that consistent revenue coming in they're really being proactive with their marketing so i said well you know at this point i had a zoom conversation with the owner of this company you're probably not ready at the size of their company probably not ready to hire like a full-time all-in a marketing manager inside your company but what i would recommend you do is to create five to seven videos every week right so daily if you're gonna do every weekday or every day of the week whatever that means for you i would challenge you to do seven days a week because social media doesn't sleep your market doesn't sleep right if you can create five to seven short form videos every week like up to 60 seconds or up to 90 second videos that you can use on instagram on facebook on youtube shorts maybe on tick tock if that's your thing as well even on linkedin as well and just simply sharing what you're doing on a daily basis right it's going to be the projects you're working on it's going to be the team meetings that you have it's going to be you know the video testimonials from some of your customers but every day make it a commitment to do a video you know whether it's 15 seconds or 90 seconds about what you're working on show off your work people want to feel like they are a part of your story you can sit there all day and take photos of your projects and say hey we just finished this amazing project and people are not going to relate to that as much as when they're seeing videos every day of you guys out there in the field doing work painting roofing remodeling contracting concrete work like whatever it is that you do sharing that on a daily basis right i'm not talking about ads here i'm just sure i'm talking about sharing your content on the organic channels facebook instagram linkedin youtube tik tok all right you don't have to do all those just pick a few that you can be consistent on now if you're a small company and it's you as the owner i would recommend not doing this yourself because you're not gonna be able to do it well you're not gonna be able to do it consistently and you're not gonna be able to pay attention to it enough to actually improve over time so what i recommended to this owner and what i will recommend to you if you're just getting started is find someone that can be someone inside your company if you have employees be an office admin if you don't have that person inside your company it can be a local you know high school or college intern uh another local person that has you know some video skills they've got the video equipment they're looking for experience they're looking to join someone uh someone's team where they can really have an impact uh and share that content there's a ton of people out there we've had high school interns we've had college interns uh local people that i bet there's a ton of people that have these skills that can really help you you know turbo charge that brand so you can hire them to do five to seven videos a week that might be you know five hours a week where they're just coming out to your jobs maybe it's even over a course of a couple days they're coming out to your jobs they're filming they're editing a little bit maybe put some music to it you know make making things a little bit faster so it's not like dragging on maybe put some captions on it and things like that and then they can publish those things every day for you and for not that much money you know you can invest uh you know a few hundred bucks a thousand bucks a month maybe even a little bit more depending on your market and what you want and what level you need um to really have that consistent content and what it's gonna what it's gonna do is it's gonna brand you and your company as the guy or the girl as the company right the people that everyone know is hey if you're a painter and if you need a painter in scottsdale arizona like these are the guys to call if you need a roofer in montville new jersey these are the guys to call right you see their content all over the place to get more mileage out of the content you want to make sure that you're using local hashtags so you know don't use the industry hashtags like painting or remodeling or things like that you can use those a little bit but don't rely on those use the local hashtags like hashtag your local town your local area you know things are going on in your local area to establish that sense of location and that's going to enable you to get much more traction with those people that are local to you right because as as most of you are local based businesses whether you have one location or 10 locations you don't want like a national audience necessarily you want that local audience you want to be five mile famous okay so use those local hashtags to establish that sense of location and to build a local following people that can recommend you refer you and do business with you right so keep it simple you don't need to spend a whole bunch of money on ads you don't need to hire a marketing agency and you don't need to do it yourself right if you hire someone to do this locally again they have the equipment they have the experience they're looking for uh you know for more experience they're looking for someone to latch on to that they can really help and assist they're gonna make some money of course and that person can make sure that the content is done well that it's done consistently and they can pay attention to the analytics to the results that you're getting so that they can continually improve over time right marketing is testing putting things out there looking at the results and improving over time so that's what i would recommend to anyone who's just getting started with content if you have some basic content you want to level up put it in your budget for say a thousand bucks a month or whatever it might be give or take and you're gonna be able to put out good content consistently and become known as the trusted authority in your local market good deal all right as always if you have any questions on this feel free to comment below uh head on over to our
