welcome back to my ask Amanda anything miniseries where I take some of the top business and marketing questions I'm asked in my upswing mastermind for health coaches and share them with you so that you can grow your own healthy wealthy coaching business today's question is hi Amanda I'm just getting started on my health coaching business do I need a sales funnel oh I love this question so so much first let's talk about what a sales funnel even it and clear up some common misconceptions a sales funnel does not even need to be online and it certainly doesn't need to be sleazy or complicated a sales funnel is at its core just a sequence of steps or the journey that your potential client goes through so as people move through your sales funnel they can move from unaware of you to interested and ready to work or buy from you if there are perfect fit for your health coaching services they will come through this journey and be ready to start in your coaching package alternatively they may also decide that working with you is not a good fit and working together is not for them and that's perfectly okay and normal in a sales funnel can do a really good job of helping someone determine that upfront so think of it like this if you personally invite people to discovery calls which is what I call asking for the dance and close the sale on the call or a follow-up email that in itself is a simple sales funnel invitation sales call or discovery call including the sale with an email three-step sales funnel this would be another sales funnel you could be at a networking event you give people your business card send them a follow-up personalized email inviting them to work with you that's also a simple sales funnel if you host a live in-person workshop pitch your coaching services at the very end and invite people to work with you that is also a simple sales funnel so as you can see of these sales funnels involve a fancy opt-in a complex email sequence that we often see advertised online or something we have to do if you do try to create a complex and fully automated sales funnel at the beginning stages of your business it would actually be case of running before you can walk it's simply not needed to make consistent $5,000 months as a health coach keep it simple okay I do want to say however yes we can and we should definitely be making a sales funnel or maybe even two on a smaller simpler animal manageable scale it's so important that you do have a sales funnel process in place when you're beginning in business usually a simple version as opposed to a complex online version in my upswing mastermind program for health coaches I do teach about using Facebook Ads creating opt-ins setting landing pages all of these pieces we can put to grow your email list and that would be an example of how we set up a more complex email based sales funnel so if you are just starting out but you want to go a little bit more advanced with a digital sales funnel here's a simple three-step process one create a landing page or an opt-in box with a free gift and an email form so you collect someone's email in exchange for a gift you're going to send them step two your prospective client signs up for that gift they get your gift by email this email then gets them added to your newsletter list step 3 now your mailing system will send an automated welcome email or maybe a sequence of emails that introduces them to your work and invites them to have a sales call or a discovery session with you so that's a three step very simple digital service funnel if you do want to explore that that's as complex as I would recommend when you are getting started so having a simple sales funnel like this is a genuinely helpful way to help people see what it would be like to work with you and to get the value from you before they even buy your sharing gold nuggets of wisdom providing free value both with your optin and your email lists and you know this is priceless for building the know like and trust factor that is needed before someone with ever purchased from you another key sales funnel that you could have in place as a beginner just before we go it could be as simple as asking people to work with you and this could actually be done on social media or in a newsletter or even in a conversation that you have with people on a day to day basis so step one is just asking for the dance ask for people to work with you wherever you can online and off step two would then be hosting a discovery session or a sales call and step three you could actually convert them into planes using my seven step simple sailor script this is the number one sales funnel to focus on when you're getting started and this one that I've shared with you here I would recommend before you start looking at the online version I hope that helps to explain a few different ways to look at sales funnels I recommend you start with whatever is easiest and most
