hi and welcome to simple agencies so today we are going to talk about pipeline transport uh the first thing that we have to know about pipeline transport is that is not something that is really really outside uh our daily lives so every day we use uh water that comes from a pipeline uh portable or treated water from front of water treatment station uh and why does it come through dots and pipes uh the thing is uh pipeline transport is the least expensive way or the least expensive transportation mode and why is that that is because um fluids especially liquids and gases are easy to transport through pipes you don't need a lot of energy to make them move and you don't need for example when you have a vehicle a truck with a tank for fuel you're moving uh i don't know 20 tons of fuel and five tons of the vehicle so you need energy for you know 25 tons 20 of cargo and five tons of the vehicle itself when you are talking about pipes uh you don't move the pipe all you have to move is the cargo so you have to pump to pump or to put some energy to move the cargo to move the material itself so it's least expensive to operate but it's a little bit more expensive to build the infrastructure for pipelines uh but even even so uh pipelines are really really used a lot for natural gas for example uh the north stream pipeline uh connecting russia to uh germany uh that carries most of the fuel for the german german industry um we have a lot of oil ducts you know a lot of pipelines for the oil industry and you have even have like in my home country in brazil we have pipelines to move uh minerals uh from the mine to the port so what you do is you mix them with water you create kind of a mud a slurry and you move them through a pipe these mines are usually located in elevated places you know kind of mountain ranges and so even gravity will help move the cargo to the port which is of course at sea level so you really use a little energy to move a lot of material that way so pipeline transport is the least expensive type of type of transport it's very desirable and although it's kind of expensive to build so if you can use ducts pipes to move uh your products um like john rockfeller did with standard oil [Music] you can do that and it will be really an economical way of uh moving your material so it's usually a good idea uh to do that if you have the infrastructure available or if you can afford to build infrastructure okay so that was what i had for today thank you bye you
