hello everyone welcome to another video in this video we will discuss an important topic in solution Management in power apps when you work on different types of solutions as your app get Advanced you will start sharing it to be used in your organization or as it gets widely adopted it's important to practice healthy Alm process or application life cycle management process by building securely in an isolated location so that people using your app don't run into issues while you are working on it so once everything is ready you will move it to a more permanent place and share it to other environments or third party application owners right so pipeline is actually a feature that is integrated with solution and once you create your solution and ready for distribution you can use pipeline feature here that is available on the screen to deploy your current package to Upstream environments depending on your multiple stages let me create a new solution and show you how we can use pipeline so that you can deploy your current solution in multiple environments isolated way in isolated way now let me go and create a new solution and remember this pipeline feature is enabled for managed environments only to check if your environment is managed or not go to Power Platform option and click on Power Platform admin Center or you can directly navigate to admin. Power Platform microsoft.com here you can select the environments list when you click environments it will display a list of environments you are working with open the environment or without opening also if you go back and select the environment here you can check here edit managed environment when you see that it is the option showing edit Environ edit manager environment that means it is already a manager environment but if you select any other environment you will see it is showing enable enable manager environment that means this environment is not managed okay so you can only Move Your solution using pipeline from one manager environment to another another management environment okay now let us see how we can do that once you have enabled if you have not enabled just click and enable this manager environment option now once it is enabled you can create a new solution in your managed environment let's say I want to create demo one pipeline okay now here I want to select a publisher of my choice let's say I want to use this publisher and click on create now once I create a solution let me add a common data model entity let's say contact and I want to change display name of an of a uh column so click on ADD existing add a table and here I want to search contact entity and this is a out of the box common data model cable entity now click on next and select the object and I want to just search last name so let me take this last name which is the default column out of the box column and I want to change the display name of the last name column and deploy it in Target environment so click on this table column and change I just want to show you how to work with solutions to customize different types of components you might you are already acquainted with this right how to customize the solution if not let me know you can join the live training I'm running and understand how to customize so let me update this last name uh updated right now this last name updated will be updated as display name display name of this column on contact entity now this change I want to deploy to my Upstream environments because I'm ready to migrate this solution uh to Upstream environments so what I do I will do all the changes in my solution and directly navigate to the pipeline here the last option is pipeline here you can create a new pipeline let me create a new pipeline let's say demo pipeline I want to create a pipeline for this solution deployment and I can give a description here and choose the Target environment this is my current environment I want to choose a Target environment where I want to deploy I want to deploy in sales trial this is my target environment where I want to publish my or deploy my solution so click on Save once you click on save it will create a pipeline for you for your deployment now it successfully created your pipeline now here you can see in the details pipeline development step then in this stage the next stage is sales trial environment where you want to deploy you if you want to add multiple environments for your deployment you just click on ADD stage and choose your stage let's say service stage and I want to choose another Target environment and click on save this way you can keep adding multiple stages where you want to deploy Your solution package to your Upstream environments this is the first environment I want to deploy to and this is the second one I want to deploy to right now once it is ready your stages are ready and your development is completed and the version is 1.0.0 and which is unmanaged right now when you deploy it it will ask you do you want to deploy right now or you want to schedule for a letter deployment I want to deploy right now click on now and click on next if you want to schedule you can schedule also at the schedule time it will deploy automatically now it will try to validate if there is any dependency with your current solution component changes after it is identifying the dependencies it will show error that these are the dependencies for your current component inside your solution if there is no dependency it will not show any error now M changes will have no dependencies with other components so now it is okay to proceed so click on deploy once you click on deploy it will directly try to deploy my solution package ins inside this environment so no need to manually export Your solution and import it in Target environment through this pipeline you can use it so that isolate isolated you can check your deployment and test if your package is working fine in multiple Target environments or not now you see currently it is deploying the version 1.0.0 point1 previously the version was 1.0.0 but now when it is is deploying the version changed to 1.0.0 point1 which is a managed solution that is deployed in here it will take some couple of seconds sometimes depending on your server it takes uh some minutes and it will keep deploying in background also if you go away from the screen also it will keep deploying let's wait till the deployment is success and this is very important for us uh in our projects because really implementing Dev hops for our solution deployment to Target environments we can keep our uh development servers and other testing servers ready so that we can test our package or solution uh in a isolated environment so that we will be more sure about the solution solution working condition right so without an error uh if our solution package is working fine in our uh Upstream environments or not so before deploying in your correct permanent environments or production environments you can use this pipeline feature to deploy immediately your current solution uh so that you can test it and rectify everything and move it to permanent place where you want to deploy it now you can see here the deployment is success of our first package in sales Tri okay now if I'll go to the sales trial environment I can check it is deployed successfully so just just uh in just one or two clicks Your solution is deployed in Upstream environments if I'll go to the sales trial and go to managed solution I can find my solution here which is just deployed called as demo one pipeline if you click this you'll see this is the change that has been deployed deployed in Target environment which is Sal stal for me right now and you know that you cannot change directly any object or any component in manager solution because it has been deployed as a manager solution and if you check the contact column is updated display name is updated and this is what I have changed in the development environment uh changing the last name display name from last name to last name updator now first stage is successfully deployed now I want to go with NE next deploy to move it move our package to Stage service stage to another environment so click on deploy here again it will ask you do do you want to deploy right now you can choose deploy right now again it will check the validations if there is any dependency to your solution if there is any dependencies there it will keep alerting you until unless you fix the dependencies before running the pipeline but if there is no dependency it will keep uh validating and once it is Success you can deploy it it will take like exactly the same time that the previous stage deployment took click on deploy now it will also take the same time that was taken for the sales trial environment deployment it took 2 minutes you see now here also it will take 2 minutes to deploy so the point I just want to make here is as time passes your app gets Advanced with multiple customizations multiple complex uh configurations are there right so once you are ready you will start sharing your app to multiple environments multiple organizations and as as as it gets widely adopted it is most important that the a process the deployment process or the pipeline process should be streamlined and uh securely store that solution or deploy that solution in a Target environment which is isolated from other users so that you can test it properly and finally decide to to deploy Your solution to a permanent place or whether it is a production whether it is a pre-road or whether it is any Target environment that your live user are using right so pipeline gives a way to deploy Your solution with just multiple clicks two or three clicks and it will immediately deploy Your solution instead of manually doing those export import publish activities and it will help us in manager solution so you can use it for your project development also for this healthy lifeline and I mean healthy application life cycle management process okay you can add multiple stages also
