I work in a team that works in operations, so we tend to go into a business and look at their operational skills and their efficiencies. One of the things we come across quite often is they have a concept of Pipeline Management and work in progress, but they don't do it very well. I work quite a lot with agile, which defines these areas much more specifically. So, we will look at their team, how many people do they have, what is their capacity, how many projects can they work on concurrently and then we'll refine that down to a model and visualize it. We'll have a board that says what we're doing now, what's coming up next, what we've just finished. And if a team has four projects going concurrently, they might have 10 or 15 quotes out. Pipeline Management is the process of scoping, sizing and estimating those quotes from 20, 15, 10, down to the four projects they can work on concurrently, so it's a process of prioritisation really.
