what's up everybody hope you're having a great day a great week a great everything been a crazy day for me uh three wheel signings i did a uh i did an hour-long presentation to a bunch of cpas estate planning attorneys and financial planners and now i'm here talking to you about funnels so about legal funnels law firm funnels in particular although this device is going to potentially apply to you no matter what type of business that you have the key is just to uh pay attention to what you're trying to do and that will determine whether or not you want or need a funnel okay so there's a couple of people out there running around right now trying to promote and sell the need for law firm funnels and they are talking about how law firm funnels are making them tremendous amounts of money and how they should buy their law firm funnel software or their law firm funnel blueprint for many many many many thousands of dollars and everything will be great so i can tell you that for 95 probably 99 of attorneys out there law firm owners out there having a funnel a traditional law firm funnel is not going to give you what you need um and and to to dial it back maybe the best thing to do is talk about what exactly we're talking about we're talking about a funnel really we're talking about is this idea that you know you you run some ads or you uh try to get people to opt into a facebook uh um um like for a free ebook and then you send them a bunch of emails and you try to get them to book a call and then you try to sell them or you uh you know you run some ads you try to get people to sign up for a webinar and then in the webinar you teach them something and then you try to try to sell them something you try to sign up to talk to you okay this is what i'm talking about when it when it's a traditional sort of funnel you have this free giveaway at the beginning that people opt in for they raise their hand for then you pepper them with a bunch of emails to indoctrinate them to build trust and to do these things and then you try to get them to to schedule time to talk to you so that you can see if you can help them that works in some industries it works by the way in in in my industry as a coach right it works very well for me to give you something of value to talk to you so you can get to know me and let you know about my services so that i can help you that helps those types of things work very well because that can give you value up front and you can potentially use that that and then go for it the problem with trying to use a funnel with legal services is that you have typically a much higher amount of of urgency than you do with almost anything else typically when people are ready to hire an attorney they are ready to hire an attorney like right now they get a dui they want to hire an attorney they're going to get divorced they hire an attorney they want to start a company they hire an attorney they want to create an estate plan they hire an attorney these things happen like relatively quickly over a matter of a couple of days maybe a week at the max you don't need to indoctrinate people in the same way when you're trying to get them to make a choice quickly and that is what a lot of people try to do with the funnel they build up this whole thing they create this ebook they create all these email sequences they have things going on for weeks and weeks when in fact the people that they're trying to to get in front of are making a choice in a matter of days or a matter of minutes sometimes on who they're going to hire and not only that who they're going to talk to about hiring them and this is the big problem that i see with law firm funnels it's a problem that i've encountered okay i've tried it uh it was a few years ago um but i tried it it failed miserably just did not give me what i wanted to get uh because what i really want what i'm really looking for what i'm trying to do when i'm putting myself out there to people i want them to to set up a time to talk to me that's what i really want for my estate planning for my probate law firm when people need my help i just want them to go book a time so we can chat so i can see learn about them learn about what their needs are and see if i can help them okay they don't need an e-book for that they already know they have a problem you don't have to indoctrinate them because they've already seen my videos they know who i am they know what they're doing these steps that you can just bypass because you want to go straight to the to the thing you know they know they want to hire you there they know you want to talk to you let them talk to you don't put all these other steps in place you know these are the way i see these most of these funnels are barriers to entry first of all you're making somebody provide their name and email address to get an ebook that that they may or may not ever read and then you're going to try to invade their email inbox with a bunch of emails to try to get them to set a time when if you would have just set the booking button at the very beginning of this whole process they probably just wouldn't book the time to talk to you all right so if you are thinking about building a funnel for your law firm i would encourage you to think twice and i would encourage you to focus on the things that you actually want you can indoctrinate people with videos just like this i have people signing up and scheduling time to talk to me all the time 100 based on my videos i can't tell you how many people have seen my videos and they want to talk to me videos build trust you can teach they can see you they can see your pretty suit that you're wearing although the suit probably i think signs up zero people uh but you can do all that now i will tell you this the one place where you would want to have a legal funnel in my in my opinion is when you can have people um you can provide people with information that they want right away okay that then will lead them to sign up with you right away okay so the example that i'm thinking of is there's someone out there that gets uh tax id numbers for non-us citizens okay that's like the bulk of this business not all the business and by the way i'm not talking trash on this person either their business model is awesome they're making tremendous amounts of money and they have like 5 000 google reviews then that's amazing like i'm all for that my point is just that the way that that funnel works for him is not the same way that it works for me in estate planning the two services being provided are different the needs of the potential clients are different um the need to talk to somebody and do that is different so if you are thinking about creating a funnel um you know i would i would talk to somebody that's not trying to sell you a funnel first to see if you need a funnel and if you need one go get one you know if it works for you go and get one all right i'm going to be talking about to give i'll give you for example i saw this question somebody asked this question in my coaching group and i told them you know i do a weekly call with everybody in the group and i said i'll break this whole thing down in the group in the group i'll actually break down a funnel i'll go and show you step by step how to create a funnel just in case you want to you know so if uh if you know if you're a law firm owner and you wanna know how to create a funnel and you know you also wanna know how to get clients you wanna know a great system maybe you should come and talk to me for a minute and at least see if what i've got is good for you right because it might be but i digress um think twice about the legal funnel uh i don't know that's necessary you want people to call you think about how you can get people to book times to talk to you and then do that over and over and over and over again okay that's it if you guys think i'm crazy if you think
