How to create outlook signature

hello everyone welcome to stainless joshua [Music] are you interesting about being a sale professional are you interested about the hospitality industry today we can have our special guest joaquin here who are going to be there about this to feel in the meantime don't forget to like subscribe and share this video because remember the goal of the channel is you have to make better currency [Music] hello joanne how you doing today good morning stanley how are you i'm good thank you and you i'm doing a wonderful i'm excited about thanksgiving so yes awesome have you been keeping a food you're gonna eat a lot of good food oh yeah i'm ready friends we have two places to go to um just remember spacey i will i will trust me awesome and we're really happy that you're part of the show today thank you for having me awesome thank you and without any produce our first question will be tell us about your profession my profession i am considered like a sales professional for the hospitality industry uh my title would be sales manager for um hotels in particular and uh i my profession really it's it's as a sales manager i'm responsible for the revenue of the hotel making sure that the goals of the hotel the financial goals on a monthly quarterly and even yearly goals are met every time and i am pretty much responsible for that into market and promote the hotel how did you become interested uh i would say maybe about um 13 years ago i actually was in college for uh to become a teacher i wanted to oh okay yes i i started out um in education and i used to work for a school and i also was working for a marriott hotel as a as a concierge so i was working for the school as a teacher's assistant translator and i also worked for marriott hotel as concierge and when i made the difference between the two i realized that i would fit in more into the hospitality industry and from that point i kind of made that switch i made that transition so there you go you said how long it will take you to make a decision between being a teacher and the hotel it didn't it didn't take me too long to be honest because you kind of you know i mean i love kids i like to interact with them it was a really fun experience but when i started to work for marriott i i fit in basically i just saw myself doing certain things i look at different positions in particular like the sales manager was there and i was able to ask her questions about her roles and the things that she had to do i spoke to the general managers just different people because when you're there you have um the the resources there for you and i ask a lot of questions and from that point it didn't really take me long i would say even maybe six months to realize that okay you know what i need to make that switch and i was telling that that taking like the core classes so i could just um i just switched over yeah so since we were talking about calculus what kind of education and experience do you need to be followed together i would say as far as education i believe now there are different programs that are available at the colleges and universities for the hospitality industry you can get your bachelor's in or even masters in um hospitality management programs you can get those degrees you can also do like me for example i had my bachelor's in business administration and my minor in hospitality management and these are the two ways mainly you can pretty much come from these are the two main ways and as far as experience i think a lot of people kind of start out um doing just different jobs like entry-level jobs and they work their way up the ladder that's one of the ways to do it and i i want to even say even if you have a degree you have a bachelor's degree in hospitality management you still need the hands-on experience um from the lower level to be able to work um in a management level so you need both you need the education part and you also need the experience okay hey can you tell that your school you want to get your bachelor uh that's palm beach state long beach state in college yeah yes and they offered the business administration they also also offered the hospitality management so i did both of them there okay so if you live in florida you know where to go if you're interested in the field yes and i think like fcu also has um a program um for that too atlantic whatever when i went and humbly space so you got multiple options and if you leave to a different state check uh google uh they can google to find the school that they can absolutely just just google um just google hospitality management programs and you'll be or business administration and you'll be able to see okay you have options definitely all right viewers go to google and you'll be able to find now something on your field on this field if you really interesting about it yes what is the common career path in hospitality um coming career paths uh you know hospitality industry is very broad so i'm going to speak especially specifically for like um for hotels because well that's where i work i can give you some example for it on that and i would say it depends really on what you want to do we have the operation part of it which is you can be an operation manager or general manager and you are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the hotel you do a lot you deal a lot with with employees and as far as scheduling and just um just basic work and tasks that the employees have to like take on for the days you're responsible for that and the other part of it is um sales basically you are responsible like i said earlier revenue of the hotel promoting and marketing the hotel you can also get involved in housekeeping uh housekeeping and food and beverage catering that's a huge huge part of the business food and beverage it's so broad so many different positions so many things that you can do within that one sector of the industry and then you can also do human resources some smaller hotels the general manager or the assistant general manager are the ones who take care of the human resources portion of it but for larger hotels or resorts then they would have a human resources department so this or like i believe there are five of them what was your specialization on when you feel minus sales is sales what was your main responsibility as a sales manager i as a sales manager like i said earlier mainly my job is to make sure that the revenue of the hotel the the revenue goals the the on a monthly uh quarterly and yearly goals are met and even exceeded because when they are exceeded that's how you get your bonus and yes we are as sales managers we are uh salary based and we all also get our bonuses um when we exceed our revenue goals so those are two things and uh we there are two different ways to do the sales you can there are like the inward sales where people are calling in to request information or to you know make contracts for different events for example weddings or or family reunions or sports i'm pretty sure then when you got married you have to have some rooms at a hotel for families and friends who are coming in from out of town so a sales manager or sales coordinator pretty much or i mean are the one to take care of the social portion of that of the sales of department and there's another part of it too is to go out and attend as a sales manager i constantly went out and attended different networking events different um different i attended different networking events different community events participated in um different things that the community were was doing at the time just to make my face known as a sales manager in case people were to have like a need for lodging then they would know who to come to and i would go to different companies and make a presentation about my hotel to really differentiate my hotel and you know let them know instead of going over there you know you can come to mine it's it's basically it's very competitive too you have to have that competitive spirit in you to be able to um do the sales part of it and there's a little bit of not a little bit a lot of research involved as a sales manager you have to research your um your area the area you're in what kind of company are coming in how many nights how many room nights how many people do they send to hotels uh what are my competitors like the hotels next door to me what do they have to offer how are they better than me how am i better than them just a lot of research and just to you know to be able to to to make the differences between me and the other hotel so that way when i go to a presentation i can really stand out and there is the last portion of it i would say it's i call it the fbi agent portion that's the little nickname that i get because when you do research on room 19 companies uh you know basically some reports or even software would be able to give you that information however there are specific information that you um you have to you have to go out there to be able to get them if for example there is a company that stay at the hotel next door and i want to steal or for a better word for better time i could say i want to shift this business from the hotel next door to my hotel what i can do is um and i don't have like the name of the person that i need to speak with um in the company the things that i can do or um i can um patrol the the parking lot of that hotel to see if i can speak to someone and sometimes i can even stay at that hotel one night and just to be able to mingle with the other guests because if everybody is drinking and laughing they are more open to give you information that they will never give you if they knew i was a sales manager so it's just if you ever have like that fbi agent spirit wow you wanted to do certain things like uh you know it's really fun it's just uh that part of it you know can be really fun it can be really stressful for some people for me it's really fun so yeah oh so awesome fbi yeah good so talking about interesting and stressful can you tell us the most and the least favorite part of being a sales manager um for the favorite part i would say the favorite part is um [Music] definitely uh the guest satisfaction at the end of the day even for like the sales manager it takes so much work so much effort to be able to get business or to get groups or companies to come to the hotel at the end of the day if after all this effort they are not satisfied it's it's it's really disappointing so for me personally if they're happy with the outcome of it it's like i'm rewarded not only with the bonus but i'm rewarded because i know they are happy and a happy customer comes back a happy guest not only come back but but they talk about you they go out there and they tell oh they they say well you know joanne this girl she's the sales manager over there you should go to her versus the other place so ultimately the best experience i mean the the favorite one for me would be um guest satisfaction and the list experience would be probably the other way around you know the the if they're not satisfied if they're not satisfied and sometimes um not every department within that hotel understand the effort that the sales sales team have to put to be able to um to be able to get clients and and get customers into the hotel like if i do all of this effort to get somebody in and at the front desk people are like yearning they're laid back they don't care you know at the end of the day it's like you know it's it's it's it's that's my least favorite part is to make sure that all department within the hotel understand that there is an effort that needs to come from every department of the hotel to be able to make sure that the guest is happy okay make sure the customers and the guys are happy yes that's how you get the money it does it's it's money it's very we have to be very money um finance oriented okay we're talking about money and there is cell manager has a regular working regular hour um it depends on the hotel brand for the most part hotels sales managers work really it you know nine to five regular um hours however sometimes you may need to work later sometimes you need to come in earlier if you have to meet a particular client and they are available early in the morning um like those those uh parking lot patrol that i was talking to you earlier those were done mainly in the evening that's when people get off work and you do that in the evening so i would say for the most part yes but sometimes you go how outside of your schedule and sometimes you you do it on the weekends too but it's the the schedule for the most part is a steady schedule that's for the sales department that's not for the whole hospitality um industry because regular hours for hospitality industry it varies it's very you have to be very flexible in the hospitality industry it's um yeah okay so be flexible that's good okay and if someone is really interesting on your field your profession what advice you like to give them before they decide to take the first day if they want to transfer i like if they want to to transfer from a different industry to the hospitality industry the transfer of first time they're just trying to get what they want to do okay i would say um you know get some hands-on experience i i think like a lot of people get mesmerized really by the hospitality industry it's so beautiful like they go on a vacation or they even go to a restaurant i hear people say wow you know i go to that restaurant everything is so beautiful i want to open a restaurant i i would say like the the better the presentation the more work it requires always keep that in mind and if you're not willing to put in the work then it's not the place for you if you go to a nice restaurant and everything is it's like the presentation the food the service everything is nice trust me they work extra hard to make sure that everything is perfect so what you're getting behind behind the scene it's a it's totally different so if you want um if you're interested in that field i would say get an entry-level position to see if that's really a good fit for you and also keep in mind that you have to be a people person you have to be um you have to i always say you have to you have to have a uh a servant attitude being willing to go the extra miles for for the guests who are coming in because it's very um particular with our industry uh i would say for example if um how many times do people go to publix for example like in a week you can go several times and uh if you need a uh an employee at at publix who has an attitude one day because she's having a bad day it's not really a big deal simply because it's like oh you go there all the time that's fine you can overlook that but when you have people coming into the hotel a lot of time it's it's it's for a really major reason they have a presentation for their company they have an interview or if if they are coming for vacation it's even worse they are here they spend a long period of time they spend a lot of money and a lot of time they have to save throughout the year to get that once a year vacation so for us to at the hotel you have to be on your best behavior because the last thing that i want to do is go on vacation and know that i'm spending my hard earned money that i save for months and coming and giving me an attitude as an employee so it's just i don't want to deal with that so we have to be you know best uh behavior you have to have that mentality that you are there to help people to go the extra miles and if you don't have it in you it's it's not the best fit for you that's pretty cool that's right so hopefully all the viewers you heard about it and hopefully you know you can really make a better great choice thank you joanne thank you juan for your time thank you for all this information that you just shared with everybody but before we go i know you've been working on a special project would you like to share the viewers the project and give more information about it absolutely well i do have it right here this is a book that was released this month actually it's uh how to safely vacation during kobe 19. that's the title and this book was written because wow it's it it's been so overwhelming for parents especially mothers who have to work from home they have to take care of their kids wars homeschooling basically they have to play play mum roles teacher roll cook clean it gets really overwhelming at some point and i could hear so many women saying unanimously like i just want a vacation i just want a vacation but kovid so this book was written um especially for this women or even men people who are really interested who really yearn for that vacation but were afraid to take that vacation we have tips and recommendations on a location hotel method of transportation just um food and beverage and also different um rules and regulations that have changed um lately because of covid for example one of the things that i touch based on this is that uh before people used to if you go to a hotel you have to check in you have to like stand in line you know wait with people and stand in line and meet with the front desk legion and get your key and check in a lot of many hotels now what they do they do the um the keyless check-in process and what you do you download the app of the hotel brand on your phone you basically check in that away and you don't even have to stop by the front desk or anything you check in and you go to your room i mean you you go to your to your room you just scan the key the key will be sent to you on your app you scan the key against the doorknob and it opens the door for you so you basically it's you're not in contact with anyone and these are things that hotels airplanes and train they have changed just to make people uh feel more comfortable but people are not too aware of these things and they are all in the book really so if you ever uh wanted to have that vacation and you were afraid upset or skeptical about um doing it uh i'm pretty sure stanley you're gonna allow me to like put a link down here oh definitely yes we're gonna have a link for you you can just click on it right now it's on amazon two version um paperback and also the kindle version we are also working on the audio spanish and french version it's not on there right now but don't wait for it just go ahead and click on it and uh start planning your vacation start getting these tips because you don't want coffee is not gonna go anytime soon so you don't wanna wait for it to be over before you start planning start planning it now and get uh get your vacation that you've been waiting for awesome yes guys like she said you can have the link below just click on it and you'll be able to get this book from her and thank you for supporting her because she's really working hard to make our life better and that's what's good about your manager thank you stanley thank you it was a pleasure to have you today and hopefully it's not gonna be the last time you know because i know you have more project coming coming up and i pray god that you know be successful in life you know and you're don't forget to like subscribe and share the video and hopefully like we said before you'll be able to make a better career choice thank you again and have a blessing thank you joanna for having me stanley happy thanksgiving happy thanksgiving you
