[Music] in the robo cells why isn't the company's over staff sales teams and what do you need to know about it this is an important question i'm scott simone belt i'm coming to you live from Waimea Bay on a perfect day to talk about sales and a perfect day to talk about you so here's the thing you work inside of an organization you look around the sales team and you're like why are there so many salespeople here today and there's not enough leads there's not enough ups why are all these people here why well there's really three three reasons first reason you can have an industry that's seasonal so what the company has done is they've looked and they look here we got marketing coming in we've got all these leads and based upon the numbers of leads and based upon the amount of people that we're gonna need we need to be staffed up and we're okay to accept some some bottom feeders we're okay to accept some people who are okay we just need bodies right it's the body men talk to when you take a look at it sometimes companies will say you know what I'm okay with the sales guy making this much money but the second that he gets here who nope not gonna do it not gonna happen not gonna do it okay and so what they do is they over hire to limit your income they over hire is a way to to put a gate on how much money you can make if you don't go out and get your own lease okay cuz like to them they're like sales guys sales girl closer performer can make this much once you go over that mm-hmm not good third here's what it comes down to most sales managers do not know how to hire self people so they have a history of sells they went through sells they got hired they went through an interview process with first manager and they're like oh this is how it's done they go to another job they get hired from another sales manager who's very similar they go oh this is how it's done then they go to a job and they get hired by a third sales manager in like okay this all set so it's tradition so they find a people-pleaser person who's gonna discount a price match and they think that's what sales is so now you're saddled with people inside of the team and you look around you're like why are there so many people here there's three reasons let's do the math if you have 10 people in a sales people sales team two of them are gonna be pretty darn good okay they should be four of them are gonna be okay and four should not be there so if you've got a team of 20 people that means eight people in the room you're looking around you're like why why are all these people here oh okay your staff for the season I get that you're dead wait you're not very good at what you do you're a price-match or you're a discounter you're banging the boss you're on the boss's team I get it now we know so like the real deal that's why companies over staff teams is for those three main reasons phantom reason number four sometimes a boss will keep somebody around because that guy or that girl isn't Lackey that bug that guy or that girl is the one that backs up the the boss and tells them everything that's going on there like a tattletale there the mole inside of the sales team sort of speak that's like three and a half reasons not nice asbestos underwear type of a day some people are gonna get their feelings hurt get them hurt it is how it is you got one thing to do from here just one thing find the subscribe button click on it every time I send in a video you'll get an update this is Scott Bell consultants on another fantastic video probably from the cool location today I'm on the North Shore of Oahu at Waimea Bay we'll see you soon thanks for dropping by Aloha [Music]
