here we created this channel to help you polish your skills make more sales and ultimately make more money in the insurance space and today I want to talk about uh something that's often argued really or often you know debated whether you should be generating your own leads or buying leads and to be honest with you I don't know that it's it's uh even a competition between buying and generally leads if you can generate your own leads right you should generate your own leads but if you're like me okay and you know uh running Facebook ads and Google ads and you know all of these uh different ways that you can generate your own leads okay whether it be through like a telemarketed lead or an internet lead or whatever if you're not a tech Guru a marketing Guru that knows how to do this it's pretty obvious you should be buying leads however it does not mean you shouldn't be learning how to generate some of your own leads even just generating your own local leads like in your community uh I was looking through I was looking through one of the things I was thinking of is like you've seen these like coupon books right the ad little coupon books one of the first Pages this lady uh had a ad for like ten dollar haircuts and you know 30 blowouts and whatever she was like you know just a very like cheap made ad she had a selfie photo of her that was like edited with like an Instagram filter or something oh and then it said and it said uh that they take cash or cash app so like you can't even use a credit card here and then the number was definitely a cell phone number um not like a business line but to be honest with you there are so many people that wouldn't even do that because they got to get it perfect they got it she gets business off of that ad I guarantee you and it's a free it's it's one of these free coupon books like it's free to advertise in them uh you can tell it's free because a lot of the ads are like that but the the point is that they're finding ways to be creative to go out there and market and to generate their own leads and so it's never a situation of one or the other I certainly think that in the beginning when you're building your business and time is very very important that you're spending time working in the business that you're buying leads to be able to make sure that you're 100 of your time is filled up with calling those leads running appointments and selling deals right to generate income because money buys you time to invest in learning marketing to invest in uh you know some ad spend to invest in a billboard whatever simple marketing techniques that you have but then you also want to make sure that you're tracking that marketing the reason why I laughed about the cell phone numbers not because of the cell phone I did business through my cell phone for five years but because uh and I still you know still do to this day just took a cell phone call just two seconds ago um but the reason why I laughed about that is because now knowing what I know now is I would want a different did for that right a a number dedicate catered to that ad if I got a billboard on the side of the road I want a did to go along with that billboard which is just a number so it's still gonna like if my business number is uh my cell phone number I can have a did number that when they call that number it forwards to my cell phone but now it's tracked as to where they got my information I don't have to ask them where they saw my ad or where they found me or whatever I know because of the the caller ID that's coming from them seeing my billboard right I don't have any Billboards but if I did I would have a did you're not just going to put again it's not a it's not a one is better than the other clearly if you can generate your own leads and you can generate them a lower cost then you can buy them then it's it's clearly better but many people struggle to have the volume that they need generate their own leads so you've got to buy right you've got to be able to supplement and make sure that again at least during the working hours of your business you are either calling leads running appointments setting up appointments or and selling deals right the running of appointments should equal in sold deals so it's not really a competition of buying leads versus selling leads buy leads buy leads buy leads buy leads in the beginning generate income generate income generate income generate income now take a small percentage of that income and apply it to generating leads buy a course buy uh you know buy some buy some ads buy whatever take some of that money reinvest it into learning some of that marketing and picking it up on your own because I guarantee you even when it comes back to buying leads it's going to make you better at buying leads when you're generating themselves yourself right you know that you're able to generate at 15 bucks if you're paying 25 over here you might have some room for negotiation you might be able to get a better deal and again you're just learning the basics you're not trying to become a marketer take a little bit of that income you're investing from or you're making from buying the leads and selling those deals invest and start generating some of your own leads one thing you should know about me [Music]
