[Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] hey everybody thanks for checking out this edition of digital success stories i'm steve cross creative director at ice energy and today we're going to be talking to brian the assistant director of sales and marketing at ctm labeling systems they design and manufacture world-class labeling systems that are used across the globe we'll be discussing content strategy inbound marketing tactics all facets of seo as well as paid acquisition channels and dev environments what's a real content strategy look like how do you stack technical seo on top of that content what's the roi of an inbound marketing campaign and lastly how do you identify your best acquisition channel and capitalize on it let's dig in hi my name is brian shivers i'm the assistant director of marketing and sales at ctm labeling systems ctm designs manufactures and sells automated labeling systems a typical day at ctm can be a little chaotic we have 80 plus employees and we are all responding to clients needs to build and get those systems shipped all across the united states and canada we do have some installations in europe and mexico as well our day-to-day with our previous agency was really labor intense when we made the switch to ice energy all of a sudden we saw that that team was able to just take over put their own knowledge and research into what we do and it really freed up space for us to just do our jobs in this day and age it's not uncommon for a client to come to us with assets on multiple platforms as was the case with ctm in their case we leveraged the power of hubspot to construct and track the performance of content offers and monitor leads and the flexibility of wordpress to power their website this allows us to efficiently execute on-page seo optimizations in terms of realizing we made a positive move to ice energy it happened rather quickly we realized that a lot of our content wasn't really written for the purpose of seo so they looked at it from a technical perspective and was able to change up a few of the older pieces we had as well as going forward to help us drive more traffic and that's made a huge difference so the digital marketing strategy that we implemented for ctm focused on two main components seo and inbound we wanted to create valuable content for their potential customers to help them problem solve issues and ultimately connect the dots to ctm's brand all of that long form content was based upon significant keyword research and ultimately all of that research is what helps people find appropriate results we had some things that a lot of bad links that needed to be disavowed that was driving a bunch of garbage traffic and one by one those things started to go away and we started to realize i think just a better audience overall using our off-page link building strategies combined with technical on-page optimization to key pages of ctm site we've been able to help generate a noticeable increase in organic visibility boosting their overall keyword rankings by 47 percent and their first page keyword rankings by 55 percent it was a great mix of design and creativity uh with with some deep data dives allowing us to actually move forward something new that we took on was the use of native and display ads and retargeting and when i look at our kpis i see that a facet of that is really about a third of our traffic drive right now which has been really amazing a key aspect that we wanted to focus on with ctm was finding their clients in places where they would never traditionally think to look with that we created targeted digital campaigns focused on areas where ctm's audience would be most active online that coupled with website retargeting focused on engaged visitors has helped ensure that ctm stays front of mind with any potential clients during their online discovery ice energy has helped to ensure our success really by just being available the team has always seemed to just have our back and and been very open in communication [Music]
