hi this is Nicholas York a registered migration agent from Pathway to odds uh and today I want to run through with you uh something that we get asked about all the time and it's sort of how to submit an expression of interest um obviously today is very general in nature I just want to give you some tips and tricks that you know should hopefully make it as easy as possible um so you would need to submit an expression of interest in order to apply for a general skilled migration Visa so a skilled independent 189 State nominated 190 or skilled Regional 491 um and basically by submitting an expression of Interest which is also known as a points test by the way you're kind of going to immigration hey look this is me this is my age my education my work experience my English ability and other attributes and you're saying will you invite me to apply for the Visa and then basically you've got to wait to be invited to apply for Visa so generally speaking uh the different sort of documents you're going to need to have certain documents prepared in order to apply for the Visa so the first document you're gonna need a skill assessment that's 100 required uh the next document if you've got your English test already prepared and things like that you'll probably need that as well um so guys once again this is General in nature um but look the very first thing that you're going to want to do is you're going to need to go to your Emmy account or to immigration and if you haven't already set up a skill select account okay so this is the website here you go through click in the skill select account and you basically just need to set up all your information and everything like that all right so once that's count account is all set up you'll get sent through to here um and you can start actually lodging the expression of Interest okay so when you do Lodge the expression of interest you can actually Lodge any you can request an invitation for any of these three visas now obviously you might not be eligible for all these visas but just check it out so the skilled independent the 190 and the 491 and on this you can go through and go hey immigration I want to apply for the 189 the 190 and the 491 I'll accept any of those invitations if you invite me or you can just go for the one uh family members it says do you want to include any family members so remember family members are only units of your family member so very rarely can it be like your parents or your siblings or whoever usually it's your spouse and if you have any dependent children okay and so this is the next important part it says what is your preferred location within Australia okay so you can pick any which means you're open to go into anywhere but before you do choose it you really I think it's important to sort of do the research and determine which occupation um your or which state desires your occupation so in addition to that New South Wales generally likes it when you only put New South Wales on there and also a lot if you're in Australia a lot of the states will only invite you if you're living and working there so feel free to put any or feel free to just put just the one uh would you be willing to live in a regional area if you are say yes if no say no but you can put any there or not um so if you're eligible for 491 family sponsorship like that have you taken an English test so you say yes if you've got your IELTS or pte or you'll say no if you don't I don't have one on me so I'll say no all right so your education guys so immigration gives you points for your highest level of Education okay they don't care really about your lowest as much you get points for your highest so if you've got a bachelor or a masters in another qualification but you did a cert three in Australia in a trade occupation you may be able to claim points for your highest level of education so your Bachelor or your Masters okay um so you'd go through and you'd put your bachelor in there um before you do that though you need to check that your Bachelor or your Masters is equivalent to a bachelor or Masters in Australia um so you've got to check the country education profile because not every Bachelor equals a bachelor in Australia so did you study in Australia for two years so if you say yes you can claim points for that so meet the Australian study requirement it's not actually did you study in Australia for two years but did you study at a relevant level for two years did you study in a regional location so did you study all of your qualification in a regional location so not Brisbane not Sydney not Melbourne and will you be able to provide evidence to back that up so let's just say yes Community uh accreditation language programs or do you have a Nazi translation course no we don't but if you do that you can put that on there all right what's your occupation all right so Carpenter so once again guys you need to have your skill assessment there if you don't have your skill assessment you can't complete an eligible skill assessment okay so get your skill assessment ready first um trade recognition Australia once again guys I'm just making this all up so employment guys so this is very very very crucial this is probably the most important part of it do not claim employment that is not at a relevant skill level okay you can only claim employment so for example if I'm doing a surgery in carpentry I can only claim employment points once I've finished carpentry so you know from the date of my graduation so afterwards I can't claim points for before because I wasn't skilled Carpenter and it's the same for most other occupations okay it's uh [Applause] make sure you break it up so if you do have you know uh if you do have a carpenter in Australia who've been working for since the first of November since when you graduated you can say yes and then before then perhaps you were a laborer or a trade assistant but most importantly guys you are not claiming points for being a trade assistant okay because you weren't skilled okay so that's that's really the difference if you try and say you're claiming points and then they give you points and you don't you you don't meet the requirements for it you can't claim that all right and then you just go through and you can assess you know what you're getting points for yes yes I did study in a regional area yes I'm going to claim points for that okay read through and declare it I'm going through fast guys just because I'm trying to wrap this video up and then what happens is it goes through to the review page where you can review all your information to make sure it's correct okay so I didn't enter the English test it won't allow me to go any further but basically once you've reviewed all your assessments you click next and then submit and then once it's submitted it goes into the pool of eligible applicants and either screen the one of the states can give you an invitation or the federal immigration can give you an invitation if you're going to go for the 491 or the 189 family sponsored um but yeah look that's just a very general indication of an expression of interest um guys it can be tricky so I would you know recommend if you do have any questions chatting with a registered migration agent but I just wanted to give you an overview of sort of what's involved and just some of the little tips or tricks that that are really important to sort of Meeting those requirements all right well look I hope you found that information useful um and
