How to eSign a document: pdfpen signature

hey there's Brooks here from documents not calm and today we're going to be talking about how to use PDF pen to stamp your signature into a document alright so on the Mac there's a bunch of different ways that you can add a signature to a document probably the most common way that people do it is they print it out sign it and then scan it back in that's kind of a drag so we ideally want to have an all-digital way we can do this without having to print this stuff out on the Mac there's a bunch of different ways you can do it you can do it using preview there's a whole bunch of applications to do it but my favorite way to do it is with an application called PDF pen from smile software so I have this PDF here that I want to sign and what I'm going to do is I'm going to right click on it go open with and then PDF pen which I have installed and that's going to open up and I want to add a signature to this line right here so how do I do that well I have already scanned in a file of my signature so I'll just let's just say it's on my desktop it would most likely be in a folder but just for the sake of this video will it be on the desktop and what I could do is take this file drag it on to my PDF and then add the signature there but there's a better way to do it using a feature of PDF pen called the library so what I'm going to do is in PDF pen I'm going to go up here to window and go to library and you can see I could just do command Y to do that as well and you can see here that this little window here has come up the library window and it can do a whole bunch of different stuff but what we're mainly concerned is adding our signature to this library and this will let us use it with any document in the future so what I could do is click here on the plus sign choose add file and browse for the file that I want to add but an easier way is just to take this signature that I had scanned in previously and just drag it on to the library window and now you can you should be able to see here my signature image which is not my real signature by the way is now in the library so what I can do now is just take this library image and drag it onto the signature line and from there you you can see I've got my signature and I can use these little handles to move it around resize it and make it look perfect so that's an easy way that you can use see the library - in PDF pen to store your signature and the nice thing about it versus the preview method in Lion Mac os10 lion is it can have full color and you can do any type of image you want now just for completeness sake let's close this and sure we'll save it and we'll do two things first is we'll open it up in just regular old Mac preview so that we can see that the signature has is still there so if we open this up we're just in preview and you can see here's that signature that we had added in PDF pen it's embedded into the document so it'll you can email it to someone and it will carry over now I have a second PDF here so let's say we wanted to throw a signature on this one as well so I'm going to open it up with PDF pen and you can see my library window is still open and my signature is still there so I can now just drag this on and for any signature in the future we've got it there stored in our library so that's how to that's how to add a signature to a document in PDF pen on the Mac for more going paperless tips head on over to document snap calm thanks
